As I was threatened with having a folding clasp knife confiscated before being
allowed to board the USS Constitution (Old Ironsides) in Charlestown (Boston)
Harbour. I declined to give up my 4 cm bladed old knife. What was I going to
do? Overpower a dozen or so husky sailors and hijack the ship to ... where
ever, sailing it single handed. Or bore through the VERY thick oak planking and
the IRON sheathing with my 4 cm blade - as sharp as it was?  FEH!!!

Moving on into the 20th century ... I remembered some articles in Mechanix
Illustrated or Popular Mechanics or some such publication (tabloid science for
the masses) about an all composite/plastic gun that was radar and x-ray
transparent which fire a caseless cartridge - rather like a breech-loading
cannon or similar. So, I went looking and here is the best I could find --
although the drawings and images from the publication are still fairly clear in

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06

      Title: Egg Ship Appetizer
 Categories: Five, Appetisers, Pork, Vegetables, Eggs
      Yield: 6 servings

      6 md Hard cooked eggs
      2 tb Mayonnaise
      2 tb Pickle relish; sweet or dill
      1 ts Mustard
    100 g  Cooked ham; sliced 

  Cut cooked eggs in half lengthwise. Remove yolks. Set whites
  aside.

  Place yolks in a plastic food storage bag. Add mayonnaise,
  relish and mustard. Press out air. Close bag.

  Press and roll bag until yolk mixture is thoroughly blended.
  Push yolk mixture into one corner of bag.

  Cut off a small part of the corner and then squeeze bag
  gently from the top to fill reserved whites with yolk
  mixture.

  Place each filled egg on one ham slice. Turn two opposite
  corners up over the yolk mixture and gently press.

  Chill in fridge before serving to let flavours blend.
