Hi Janis,

JK> > My problem is remembering everything. It takes a lot of
JK> concentration > and I couldn't do it while trying to juggle everything
 JK> else.

JK> I know what you mean.. I have a bazillion notes to myself here and
JK> there it seems. I think it was easier when I was younger :)

Multi tasking again! My mind is racing on to several projects ahead as
I'm cleaning up from one. Had my hands in major dishwater today a couple
of times but glad I didn't wait until I was all done to wash up. At one
point I had about half a dozen dirty mixing bowls. (G)

>> several days, like lasagne, or just a pot of sauce/meatballs/sausage.
>> Marinara Sauce and polenta is so simple to do as well.

JK> > I've got a number of things in the freezer I did before I went out
JK> to > Las Vegas for Steve to eat while I was gone. I'll try to leave

 JK> That's handy...

JK> > most of them and cook new for a couple of weeks. Steve will be able
JK> to > help out too; I've got a lot of sewing to do between now and June
 JK> 12.

>> ===Oven Baked Polenta===
>> (look Mom, no hands (g)

JK> > It looks good but I've got to limit Steve's corn intake. I would
JK> enjoy > polenta several times a week with various sauces and corn in
JK> different > ways but Steve would be having migraines all the time.

JK> Ah..like my daughter and her boys... and she loves Polenta, but can't
JK> tolerate it. She also gets very bad migraines.

I've been doing better on the migraines since I started taking a
B-complex vitamin every morning. Don't want to see what happens if I
discontinue that tho as I had some killers when we were in GA before
Steve suggested the B-complex. He was at Trader Joe's the other day and
got me a roll of polenta--sweet!

 JK> Funny though, I don't get them (I get pre-vertigo headaches though)
JK> but Ron does.. but corn is not one of his triggers.. You'd think it
JK> would bother him, but it doesn't. Chocolate is his big one.. and wine
JK> (which he hasn't had in years).

I don't drink wine and try to stay within a decent range on my chocolate
consumption. Easier to do that some days than others. (G)

JK> > Try it; you may not find it useful but until you get used to the new
JK> > arraingement, it will help.

JK> I think since most of my sewing tools, etc. are in the athena cabinet,
JK> I can just let it go.. If I had things in other cupboards etc., then I
 JK> might do so :)

Perfectly understandable. Since so much is unloaded out of bins,
baskets, etc when the packers come, I get to try to remember how I had
things arrainged in the most previous place we lived. Then I juggle
acordingly as to what fits/works and what doesn't.

>> will be moved in a similar fashion, except I'll have to unpack the
>> china cabinet and then re-load it.

JK> > Get help from the grandsons. At least the older ones would be able
JK> to > help and I'm sure even the little one could find some way to
 JK> help.

 JK> Hehe.. defintely true.. :)

They're so eager to help at the age when they can't do much, then when
they can do more, the eagerness isn't there as much.

>> > Sounds like a good idea to me, especially having a large pantry. I
>> could > use one but will settle for what I have here for now.

JK> I've always loved big pantries..

I've never had the luxury--HI was the closest when we made a decent
sized hall closet into one. Still had to come up with creative stowage
for some things tho.

JK> > Are the island doors accessible from both sides? On Rachel's island,
JK> the > doors and drawers can only be accessed from one side. It's the
JK> > closer to the sink, stove and dishwasher but there were times I was
JK> > wishing I could get to it from the other side as well.

JK> Ours is constructed differently.. the center island is constructed of
JK> two full-size cabinets across back to back.. so yes, you can only open
JK> each cabinet from one side, but on the other side there's another

That sounds very workable. Only thing that would make it better would be
if it could be spun around so you could have the stuff you wanted to
work with on the side you wanted to work on all the time.

JK> cabinet (g). Originally, Ron was going to build something like what
JK> Rachel has, then he decided to do it this way, since it would make
JK> more sense given the number of cabinets I wanted :) I wanted sepate
JK> areas for separate things.. and a lot of drawers and bins (for
 JK> potatoes, onions, etc.)

I know; we have 2 drawers in the kitchen, 2 more on the butler we
bought. Only bins are the ones we've added, also a 3 tier hanging basket
helps for potatoes, onions, etc. That is hanging in the laundry area but
at least it's hanging, not sitting somewhere useless.

>> tall can-storage cabinet elsewhere.. heh.. maybe in the dining room?
>> I think I can place that huge cabinet in there, but will have to
>> measure it out :)

JK> > Work it out, move everything and enjoy your new arraingement.

JK> Still have to do that measurement.. we had a bad weather evening last
JK> night.. tornado warnings :( We lost power for 24 hours until NSGE got
 JK> things going again..

No fun; we had some storms but not to that extent. I imagine my folks
will fill us in more in their next letter.

JK> We think we're going to buy some pegboard for the kitchen "top" walls
JK> and put wainscotting that we've already purchased on the bottom..

 JK> Should be nice :)

Just when you think you have it just the way you want, something happens
that will make you have to redo the whole thing eventually. (G)

... Mind... Mind... Let's see, I had one of those around here someplace.
