We had a bill in our Legislative Assembly that proposed banning cell
phone calls and texting while driving but sadly it got voted down.
We have 9 members representing the four larger communities
(Yellowknife 4, Inuvik and Hay River 2 each and Fort Smith 1) which
actually have cell phones and 9 members representing nine largely
wilderness areas with a handful of small hamlets. One of "our" guys
was selected as the neutral, non-voting Speaker of the House and
"we" are loosing a lot of votes 8 to 9 as a result. Those nine guys
voted in a block against a cell phone ban as it was irrelevant to
their own ridings, as some sort of misguided protest against the
level of service offered by the phone company in their area. Bah!
They also voted against a 911 service in Yellowknife as it wouldn't
be available to everyone else right away.


MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06
 
      Title: Cannoli with Ricotta Filling
 Categories: Frosting, Pastry, Chocolate, Italian, Wine
      Yield: 12 Servings
 
  1 1/3 c  Flour
      1 tb Shortening
           -Pinch of salt
    1/2 ts Sugar
           -Wine, sweet or dry
           RICOTTA FILLING:
      1 lb Ricotta
      2 ts Semi-sweet chocolate chips
      1 tb Candied orange peel, cut
           -fine
      1    Jigger creme de cocoa or
           -other liqueur
      2 tb Sugar
 
  CANNOLI: Mix flour, shortening, salt, and sugar.  Add enough wine
  to make a stiff but workable dough.  Roll into ball; let stand for
  1 hour. Roll out dough 1/8 inch thick.  Cut into 5 inch squares.
  Place cannoli tube across the corners of the square. (Cannoli tube
  should be 8 inches long and 1 inch in diameter). First fold one
  corner around the tube, then the other and press together. Fry in
  deep fat, one at a time, until dark golden brown. Remove cannoli
  carefully and let cool before filling.
  
  RICOTTA FILLING:  Cream ricotta well, add chocolate chips, orange
  peel, creme de cocoa, and sugar; mix very well.  Fill puffs with
  filling.
