Yep...pointing out the family 
connections and local lineage 
makes you "family" again!

-> -> Yes, and it's hard to break some of those ways when the income
-> -> increases. My mom grew up with having the choice of butter, jelly or
-> -> both on her morning bread. When she got married, they could only 
afford
-> -> one or the other so I grew up with just jelly. Even though the financial
-> -> picture has improved considerably, my folks still set just the jelly.
-> -> But now it's a sugar free one for Mom and a regular one for Dad. I set
-> -> just jelly but butter is there if people want it. My crusts (from the
-> -> home made whole wheat bread) get saved and turned into bread 
crumbs.

-> We eat the crusts too, probably I should have said "heels". I grew up
-> calling the 2 end pieces "crusts" and still do. It's the "heels" that I
-> use for crumbs. For a long time we had to eat the heels; I think when
-> Mom started working outside the home, my folks felt they were well
-> enough off we didn't have to eat them any more. That was when I was in
-> 6th grade.

I don't remember ever being that well
off (grin) of course I liked the 
heels and would try to be the one
who got them for a sandwich!

I was the "lawn mower"...and I still don't 
like mowing a lawn to this day! After I 
joined the navy..Pop got a riding mower 
and everyone loved mowing the lawn! ME?
I had a push mower...not a gas powered one
a HAP powered reel mower that fought me
every step of the way across the yard!
