Fibre Optic cable is expensive stuff. Yellowknife only has it for the
government backbone which runs for about 10 blocks in the downtown
core between the high rise offices. We (my Coldwell Banker office)
could hook up to it for a fee as we are right in its path but
customers on side streets also pay by the foot for their hookups.

We (CB) settle for DSL. We have a T2 line to our ISP and domain
server a few blocks away. My home is outside of the DSL range so my
only high speed options are cable, which I like, and satellite which
would be more expensive albeit faster.

Our phone company (Northwestel) was the first one in North America
to own a cable company (Mackenzie Media) and became a precedent in
Canada for media interownship. I guess our CRTC (Canadian Radio and
Television Commission) thought it wise to see what happened in a
small, remote market like ours before letting the giants in the two
industries start merging on a large scale. Our rates are higher than
the national average but I attribute that to our remoteness and
small scale of operation; our service level is quite good, despite
Northwestel having a monopoly on telephone, cell and cable
TV/internet. One thing about a monopoly, the government gets to
oversee it, approve rates and handle customer complaints, not the
shareholders and management. Just whisper the word CRTC and a surly
customer service clerk goes pale and gets right to work sorting out
your complaint!

      Title: All Purpose Stuffing
 Categories: Pork, Bacon, Alcohol, Offal, Stuffing
      Yield: 1 Servings

    115 g  Streaky bacon
    200 g  Lean pork or chicken
     50 g  Chicken livers
      1    Clove garlic; finely minced
      1 tb Parsley
  3 1/2 oz White bread crumbs
           Salt and freshly ground
           -black pepper
      2 fl Cider
           Brandy to taste

  Mince the meats, garlic and parsley in a mincer.

  Add the bread crumbs and season to taste. Pour in the cider and
  brandy and mix well. You can add many different ingredients to the
  stuffing to vary it and make it more interesting.
