I've seen similar on ESPN 10-12 years ago. Only on a closed course. They did
timed runs (sometimes) and multi-boat competitions. There was a driver and a
"navigator" in a short little boat with a honking great engine in the back ...
and a roll cage. I wondered about the roll cage on a boat until I saw one of
the things miss a turn, run onto the shore and begin doing acrobatics and
barrel rolls. Then I understood.

Oh, I have. Both endurance and short track. I've actually participated in the
short track (oval) racing. Back in the mid 1960s at Eagle River and
Rhinelander, WI.

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06

      Title: Racing Silks Chocolate Sauce
 Categories: Sauces, Desserts, Chocolate
      Yield: 2 1/4 cups

      1 c  Sugar
      8 oz Semisweet chocolate chips
      1 c  Milk
    1/2 c  Light corn syrup
    1/2 c  Heavy cream
    1/2 ts Bourbon vanilla extract

  Mix sugar and chocolate chips in medium saucepan. Stir in
  milk, corn syrup and cream. Cook over medium heat, stirring
  to dissolve sugar, until mixture boils. Boil for 6 minutes,
  stirring frequently. Remove from heat; stir in bourbon
  vanilla. Serve over pound cake or ice cream.

  Makes 2 1/4 cups
