Maura and I have discussed the possibility of hosting a picnic here.  However,
we would have no room for anyone to stay unless they were driving a small RV
that they could park in the backyard.  Thankfully, there are a few hotels
within a less-than-ten-minute drive from here, including Red Roof Inn, Motel 6,
and Super 8.  My out-of-town friends and family seem to prefer the Red Roof
Inn.  In my experience of just visiting the rooms there, they seem clean,
comfortable, and secure (the entire hotel is well-lit at night).

I would have to work up a list of good places to eat that everyone would like
to go to though.  I'm mostly a "meat and potatoes" kinda guy and not very
adventureous in food.  My wife, on the other hand, would be good to tell you
places.  I know that there is a good Indian place in town recommended to us by
one of my professors who is Indian herself.

I was thinking that our place would be good also for those coming down from the
northeast; all you have to do is take I-81 straight down and hit I-26, going
east (south) and taking a single exit off of the freeway.  For those that would
be flying in, the Tri-Cities Airport is about 20 miles or so north of my place
but easy to get to off of I-81.

Then again you're familiar with this area enough to know what I'm talking
about.  It would be nice to finally meet everyone after all of these years, if
only once, to put a face to a typist. :)

I always like posting Italian recipes in here to see if they pass Janis's
"native" filter...

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06

      Title: Panzarotti (Fried cheese-filled crescents)
 Categories: Italian, Cheese
      Yield: 4 Servings

MMMMM---------------------------DOUGH--------------------------------
  2 1/4 c  All-purpose flour
    1/4 c  Plus
      3 tb Butter
           Salt
      1    Egg yolk

MMMMM--------------------------FILLING-------------------------------
      4 oz Mozzarella
      3 oz Cooked ham
      2    Eggs
    1/2 c  Grated Parmesan cheese
           Pinch of nutmeg
      2 tb Chopped parsley
      2    Eggs, beaten
           Oil for frying

  Sift the flour into a mound, make a well in the center and add the
  butter, cut into pieces, a pinch of salt and an egg yolk. Mix
  together, kneading and gradually adding sufficient water to obtain a
  smooth elastic dough. Shape into a ball, cover and leave to stand in
  a cool place for at least 1/2 hour. Roll out, folding the dough over
  on to itself a few times, as if making flaky pastry, then roll out
  into a thin sheet. Cut into circles about 3 inches in diameter. Dice
  the Mozzarella, cut the ham into pieces and place in a bowl with the
  2 whole eggs, grated Parmesan, pinch of nutmeg and chopped parsley.
  Mix well, then spoon a little into the center of each circle. Brush
  the edges with beaten egg, fold over and press gently. Heat plenty of
  oil in a skillet.  When hot, dip the crescents in beaten egg and then
  fry, a few at a time, until golden brown and puffed up. Drain well on
  paper towles and serve piping hot.
