In general I don't know whether to laugh or cry.
It used to be just a discretionary purchase of those
with more dollars than sense, but now because of
various factors it has become almost a necessity.
One factor is advertising. Another is the shameful
decline in the maintenance of public water supplies,
which are being stretched to the breaking point by
population increases.

 I have only encountered bad drinking
 JW> water in a small handful or urban or rural settings that made them

I have two words for you. Washington Deecee. Capital
of the free world. Sometimes unpotable public water
supply. It's not the only. LA's bad. Much of the south,
too. The most unbelievable is the water I tasted in
Bentonville/Rogers, Arkansas, where in the spring and
fall there's a phenomenon called the turn, whose
practical manifestation is the incredibly muddy, dead
leavesy, turnipy water that emerges from all taps. The
stores are full of pallets stacked with Ozarka water,
essentially the same water but from a different season.

 And even then I expect to find people

I'd like to see more of that, but it's a rare phenomenon
and becoming rarer.

Chlorine isn't the main issue. The vegetal/muddy problem
in Rogers wasn't taken care of by Brita - one had to
filter at least twice, and the filters last mere days.

I was amused.

So if you have canned peaches, why not just spice them
up with your cloves? Heck with the mangoes. You could,
of course, save the juice for future iterations of
unfortunate fruits.

      Title: Turnips au Gratin
 Categories: Cyberealm, Vegetables, Ethnic
      Yield: 4 servings

     18 oz Turnips
      2    Pieces Leek
      2 oz Candian Bacon
      8 oz Whipcream
      2    Eggs
  2 1/8 oz Cheese, grated
           Salt, Pepper to taste
    1/2 ts Caraway Seeds
           Parsley to garnish

  1. Peel, wash and quarter the turnips. Cut the quarters in
     very thin slices. 2. Wash and clean leeks and slice, diagional, in
  slices. 3. Cut the bacon in slices. 4. Take a quiche form, about 25
  cm in diameter, and grease it. 5. Layer the turnips, leeks and the
  bacon into it. 6. Mix together the cream,eggs, cheese, salt and
  pepper. 7. Pour over the vegetables, sprinkle the caraway seeds
  overall. 8. Bake in 200 degree Celsius oven for 1 1/4 hours. 9.
  Shortly before end of cooking time cover with waxpaper. 10.Garnish
  with the parsley.
