Ärende: Strange Wine

Another round of BBS weirdnesses .... I have been unable to connect with either
of my TelNet boards (Holodeck and Paragon) getting a consistent Unable to
connect via Port 23 message. 

Now, I realise that I strain my computer hardware and the wonky Micro-sloth
operating system with all the tasks I toss at it at once. And I was doing a lot
- downloading message headers on my NewsBin internet newsgroup reader and
downloading a project from there at the same time. Plus burning a DVD. And
broadcasting jazz music via my internet streamer. But, telnet is pretty basic -
and I have done this mix before without a problem.

So, thinks I, it must be the TelNet program (HyperTerm). Not so, it turns out.
I went to Doc's via telnet and uploaded a reply packet. So the net is up and my
software is talking to the net. Just now I tried again to log on to Holodeck --
and did so, only to see a message that my time was limited due to an upcoming
event at 2400 (midnight), followed by an abrupt "Times Up" message then another
log on screen. At 0645 Central. After three rounds of that I gave up and tried
Sean's Paragon (soon to be permanently dark) ... and still cannot hook up.
Which may mean the cat has eaten the homework again, or his power is out or
something similar.

I just thought it odd that neither of the (normally more reliable and stable)
telnet connections would fly for me this morning. What a present with my
morning coffee.

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06

      Title: Strange Chocolate Pie
 Categories: Pies, Pastry, Desserts, Chocolate
      Yield: 6 servings

  1 1/3 c  Sugar
    1/4 c  Cocoa powder
        pn Salt
      2 lg Eggs
    1/4 c  Butter; melted
      5 oz Evaporated milk
      1 ts Vanilla extract
    1/4 c  Semi-sweet chocolate chips
    1/4 c  Butterscotch morsels
      1    9" pie crust shell; unbaked
           Whipped cream
 
  Sprinkle butterscotch and chocolate chips over bottom of
  unbaked pie shell. 

  Combine sugar, cocoa and salt; set aside.

  In mixing bowl, combine eggs, melted butter, milk and
  vanilla extract. Beat well with a wire whisk. Add sugar
  mixture and beat again to combine.

  Pour over chips in pie shell and bake in preheated
  350øF/175øC oven for 45-50 minutes.
 
  Serve chilled with whipped cream.
