Is the term, "capsicum" - red, green or yellow - used in your or Jim's
parts of the world?  The word "pepper" can cover a multitude of
edibles, depending on whether it is preceded by, hot, chili, white,
black, coarse, ground, fresh, cracked, Szechwan, dried, bell, sweet,
Jalapeno, cayenne, serrano, milled, lots of, sliced, diced, chopped,
salt &, and/or followed by, corns, s, to taste, sauce, flakes, pods.
(All those found by just leafing through a hundred or so recipes on
file.)

      Title: Braised Sweet Peppers with Sherry Vinegar
 Categories: Veggies, Sides, Appetizers, Microwave
      Yield: 3 Servings
 
      1    Red bell pepper
      1    Green pepper
      2 ts Plus 1 tbls. olive oil
      1 tb Sherry vinegar
      3 tb Water
    1/3 c  Minced shallot
           Freshly ground black and
           - white pepper
           Salt (optional)
 
  Serves 3 or 4
  
  Cut off the caps of the bell peppers and remove and discard the core,
  seeds, and ribs.  Cut the peppers in 1/3-inch strips.
  
  Oil the bottom of a microwave-proof bowl with the 2 teaspoons olive
  oil. Add the pepper strips.  Combine the remaining oilve oil, sherry
  vinegar, and water.  Pour over the peppers.  Sprinkle shallot over
  the peppers and add a liberal grinding of black and white pepper.
  
  Cover the bowl with plastic wrap, place in the microwave and cook at
  full power for 5 minutes.  Turn the bowl and cook an additional 5
  minutes. Uncover the bowl and allow peppers to cool to room
  remperature. Taste and add salt, if desired.  Serve as part of an
  appetizer platter. Non-vegetarians will also find that it makes a
  colorful side dish for broiled or grilled pork chops or chicken
