Gail has two of them as well:-}}  The second one we got on a package
deal where it was essentially free with the purchase of bag rolls.  That
one has never come out of the box -- it is held in reserve.  She also
has vacuum sealable plastic containers.  They have a little rubber thing
in the top where you put an attachment to do the vacuum, and later pull
a tab on it to release the vacuum.  She will seal up salad greens, fruit
and other things that would get crushed by vacuum sealing in the bag.
We'll buy a two pound box of blueberries from BJs, eat 1/3 of them fresh
and seal the rest up into two other 2/3 pound boxes.  They keep a good
while, staying just as fresh as when we brought it home.

Another thing that she does is to vacuum things into ball canning jars.
That is another attachment.  You put the stuff in, put the attachment on
top of the metal lid with its gasket -- vacuum and then put on the screw
top lid.  One thing done that way is grated or shredded cheese.  We
quickly discovered that if you do shredded cheese in a regular bag, it
gets compressed and turns back into a lump of cheese.  When you put the
cheese into the ball jar, it stays shredded (mostly -- just a little
clumping).

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.05
 
      Title: Rice with Peas
 Categories: Rice, Indian, Side dish
      Yield: 4 servings
 
      2 tb Vegetable oil
    1/2 ts Black mustard seeds
      2 c  Basmati rice
      3 c  Water
      1 ts Salt
      1 c  Peas, frozen or fresh
 
  Heat oil in pot.  Add mustard seeds & leave them for 10 to 20 seconds.
  Add rice & peas (if using fresh) & stir-fry for 1 minute.  Add water &
  salt.  Cover & bring to a boil, reduce heat to very low & cook till
  the rice is almost done, 15 to 25 minutes depending on the type of
  the rice & the amount of heat used.  If using forzen peas, thaw them
  under running hot water.  Add to the rice about 5 minutes before the
  cooking process is finished.  Mix & serve with dal & vegetables.
