Best laid plans changed abruptly. Monday morning Deborah called, asking
if I'd seen something on Facebook about a step cousin of hers on Steve's
side. Since I'm not on it and Steve hadn't mentioned seeing anything
(He's in the midst of mid terms.), she called the cousin who posted it
and then called me back. Our step niece passed away unexpectedly last
Sunday. Steve did some calling up to family over Monday & Tuesday, got
word that services were to be Friday (early) afternoon. We took off
Thursday morning, arrived that night, went to the funeral, etc on Friday
and then left western NY yesterday (Saturday) morning, getting home
about 13 1/2 hours later. I took the exam Wednesday afternoon--got
bounced out after 20 minutes (of a 2 hour time limit), figured I'd hit a
wrong key somewhere. I was able to get back in but had to redo what I'd
already answered. Finished it in good order and feel pretty good about
this one.

True, but Steve likes the fresh every so often, especially near his
birthday, so I usually try to get one. the pressure cooker makes short
work of proccessing it.

About 13 years ago, Tommy and his family joined us and another family
for Thanksgiving dinner. I baked several pumpkin pies because I knew he
and his dad like it. Tommy was first in the dessert line and wanted to
take half of a pie (for starters). Deborah was in back of him and
convinved him to take only a quarter so others could have a chance at
it. A while later, I saw him go back for another quarter.

Fast forward about 5 years. Rachel was expecting Robert right around
Thanksgiving so Steve and I flew in from HI. We were to join my sister
and her (now 2) boys & husband for dinner, again I was to do the pies.
Afterward, I left one at their house; my sister does not bake. Steve
went back to HI a few days later. In the time before I went back, my
brother in law and I went out for some Christmas shopping. I asked him
if he'd gotten any of the pie I'd left. He told me that the 2 boys had
eaten it before he had a chance to get any. Tommy will be 27 at the end
of November and as far as I know, still likes pumpkin pie. Hence, the
gift and notation on the Yields portion of the recipe card.
