From an article about MGD - some stuff I hadn't known: "The concept for
cold-filtered Miller Genuine Draft was developed by product consultant Calle &
Company. Martin Calle evolved the concept from Miller's New Ventures effort to
launch a new dry beer at a time Miller Brewing was in danger of becoming a
much-cloned light beer manufacturer. Originally introduced as "Miller High Life
Genuine Draft", the "High Life" part of the name was soon dropped. MGD is
actually made from the same recipe as Miller High Life but with a different
treatment. It was developed to give High Life drinkers the same taste in a can
or bottle as they found in non-pasteurized kegs. It has 4.7% abv."

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06

      Title: Molson's Cheddar Burgers
 Categories: Beef, Cheese, Beer, Sandwiches
      Yield: 4 servings

  1 1/2 lb Ground beef
     12 oz Molson Export Ale or Molson
           - Canadian; divided
      1 lg Egg
    1/4 c  Dried breadcrumbs
    1/4 c  Fine chopped parsley
      2 cl Garlic; minced
      2 tb Dijon mustard
      1 tb Worcestershire sauce
      1 ts Hot pepper sauce
  1 1/2 ts Salt; divided
           Fresh ground black pepper
      2 oz Old cheddar cheese; in 4
           - slices
      1 tb Butter
      3 c  Onions; thin sliced
      1 tb Granulated sugar

  Preheat barbecue to medium and grease grill. In large
  bowl, mix beef, 1/4 cup Molson Export Ale or Molson
  Canadian, egg, bread crumbs, parsley, garlic, mustard,
  Worcestershire, hot pepper sauce, and 1 teaspoon salt, and
  pepper until well combined.

  Divide and form meat mixture into 8 patties. Place cheese
  in centre of patty; place another patty on top; seal edges
  well to enclose cheese. Repeat with remaining patties to
  form three more burgers. Grill burgers 6 to 7 minutes each
  side until cooked through and meat is no longer pink.

  To prepare onions: melt butter in large frying pan over
  moderate heat; add onions; stir until onions soften
  slightly, about 5 minutes. Add sugar; stir until onions
  color (a couple of minutes). Add remaining beer and 1/2
  teaspoon salt. Simmer gently, about 15 to 20 minutes, stir
  more frequently near the end of cooking. Beer should
  evaporate. Add salt and pepper to taste. 

  Serve burgers topped with onions.
