Hi Michael,

ML> Sorry to hear - I'm presuming that this was before her time?
 RH> It was God's time

 ML> I didn't mean to tread where I shouldn't - just used the term
ML> to ask obliquely if she was young.

That's what I figured you were asking; I just answered it from a
different perspective than you were anticipating.

ML> ; that's the only thing we know right now. Waiting on
RH> toxicology tests as the autopsy showed nothing. She was 38, about a
RH> month from her 39th birthday.

ML> And I suppose so. We seem to mourn more when we lose someone
ML> young, though that makes not a whole lot of sense.

I've seen that; it's probably the "what if" theory as in "what if this
person had the potential to become president, write the great American
novel, solve the world peace/hunger issues, etc?".

ML> I'd just as soon never have set
ML> foot in it and never set foot in it again.
RH> But, because you are executor of the estate, you have to check in
 RH> every so often.

ML> Couple times a month. Saves on hotel bills when I'm in town,
ML> also I get to pick up my bills, also it soothes the savage

Bill paying is a must so I guess you need to keep some sort of semblence
of a residence. And, as you said, it's a savings on hotel bills, even
tho you don't get the free soap and shampoo. (G)

ML> breast. But I sleep badly and eat badly when I am there and
ML> occasionally get really uneasy. The final report from the

I can see why. Maybe it might be better to use a hotel for at least one
night of the stay?

ML> assessment psychologist was that he is nuts and a drama queen
ML> (paraphrase but pretty close) but also that he has a lot of
ML> bottled up anger that the doc feared might come out (this is
ML> no real news, and I lock the door to my room).

Not the most ideal situation there.

RH> Can't win either way with him. Maybe you need to make some executive
 RH> decisions?

ML> As the executor, I suppose so. But no sense doing something
ML> that would wake the demons unless the extra money thus freed
ML> gave him the wherewithal to fight them. And, yes, he has
ML> tried Christianity (or at least Catholicism) - he needs that
 ML> and more.

Tough situation; sounds like he might need at least a temporary
residential treatment somewhere.

ML> Crab Cakes with Chive Beurre Blanc Sauce
ML> cat: airline, main, starter, seafood
 ML> Yield: 6 to 8 cakes

Looks good. Steve was half debating going for crab cakes at a local
place run by a couple of guys from Maryland but we decided to try a new
(8 days open on Friday) place for his birthday. Eastern Carolina bbq for
the most part but they had some ribs, chicken, etc. We ordered a plate
of ribs, beans and sweet potato chips for Steve; pulled pork, fried okra
and cheesy, bacony grits for me (ame with a small sampler of cole slaw
too). We split the meats--ribs were lightly red sauced. Took home a
banana pudding. Talking with the owner, found out that one (not sure if
it was the beans or banana pudding) won a throwdown against Bobby Flay.
He also said that the beans cook for 3 days. Steve said they were good.
The menu was light but more will be added as they grow. Very reasonable
price, very good food--we intend to go back to try some of the other
things. The grits were really cheesy and bacony, not instant grits with
a smattering of each but real longer cooked ones with lots of cheese and
bacon. They're used with the shrimp and grits that I want to try the
next time we go there.

Steve had a sweet potato pie waiting for him at home; I'd baked it
earlier in the day. Since I don't like sweet potatoes, I got the banana
pudding.

Catch you later,
Ruth
