============================
Hi Hap,

-> -> They are small, trust me. Hardly visible unless you know what/where
 HN> to
-> -> look.

 HN> Well I guess that rules out her getting
 HN> colorful dragons tattooed on to camouflage them! (grin)

Well, after she's done, you can take her down to the local tatoo parlor
and get the dragons put on. Get a matching set for yourself while you're
at it.

-> HN> I was kinda thinking they would be larger,
-> HN> like arrows pointing to the "spot" or targets
-> HN> with the bullseye where focal point was...I'm
-> HN> almost disappointed that it is going to be so
->  HN> miniscule!

-> I think Anne would rather have small ones. (G)

 HN> yeah...probably...sometimes she CAN be a bit
 HN> of a spoilsport!

Somebody's got to have a bit of sense sometimes.

-> HN> been kicking Anne's posterior quite a bit! One
-> HN> chemo infusion keeps her wobbly for a couple of
-> HN> days and just plain "tired" the rest of the time.

-> OK, I didn't have to go thru chemo so I was looking at it from the
-> viewpoint of just radiation. Will she need Tamoxifin as a follow up?
-> Mine was non estrogin responsive so I didn't need it but from what I
-> hear, it's not a fun med to be on.

 HN> We won't know for a bit yet, but her's IS
 HN> er ++ I think, so it's a likelihood.

Phooey!

-> HN> She needs extra naps during the day and will often
-> HN> sleep 12 hours at a stretch sometimes even longer!

-> I understand; I still have times when I can sleep the clock around.
-> OTOH, there are some nights when I'll toss & turn for hours, finally
-> getting to sleep around 5 or 6 am for a few hours. Most days tho, I
-> don't have to be up early so I can get some rest. Funny, those days I
-> seem to be supercharged and actually get quite a bit accomplished.

 HN> Her chemo mix is a cocktail of strange
 HN> stuff; the toxins, the buffering agents, the
 HN> steroids, the calcium, and magnesium, a
 HN> nausea med, and several more that I can't
 HN> remember right now...and that's just the ones
 HN> I know about!!

No fun. I remember with one of my wrist surgeries, once they found out
that I was seriously reacting to the anesthesia (post op), they had to
get me an anti nausea drug generally saved for chemo patients. Since
then, any time I need a general anesthesia, I let them know and they try
to mix an anti nauseant into the mix.

Today I baked a couple of pumpkin pies and made a batch of marinaded
carrots. They'll go, with the cheese ball & crackers, pickle/olive
plate, veggie/dip plate and smoked turkey over to the church for dinner
tomorrow. My fridge is so full I had to take the regular ww flour and
the ww pastry flour out to have room--but then bought a bunch of turnips
at the pre Thanksgiving farmer's market. The pickles & olives are in an
electric cooler since there's no room in the fridge.

-> HN> SHE is planning to go back to the classroom during
->  HN> Radiation treatments...half time at least...me? I'm
-> HN> not so sure that she'll be able to keep up the pace.
-> HN> A classroom full of rambunctious first graders is
-> HN> nothing to sneeze at!!

-> And she doesn't want them sneezing on her. Let her set a pace she's
-> comfortable with; it helps that you're retired and flexible in your
-> schedule.

 HN> She's already corresponding with her principal
 HN> and making plans to meet and discuss the transition
 HN> back into the classroom.

Gives her something to plan for. She will soon find the pace she has to
set for herself. A half day might be too much on some days but the
adrenyline may keep her going longer on other days. Are the students
aware of what's going on?

-> Is Amanda coming up for Thanksgiving? We're getting together with
-> several families from church for a semi organised pot luck. Steve will
-> smoke a turkey the day before and we'll bring part of it as there will
-> be other turkey there. He also volunteered me for a couple of pumpkin

 HN> Amanda is very busy trying to get her
 HN> exit seminar scheduled and trying her
 HN> best to get everything and everyone lined
 HN> up and ready. She's not going to make it
 HN> up for Thanksgiving and more than likely
 HN> will not make it up for Christmas (for
 HN> the first time) either. She'll be starting
 HN> a new Post Doctoral position sometime after
 HN> the first of the year and she may need the time
 HN> to begin moving from where she is to where she's

Just have to accept the fact she's moving on with her life, whether you
like it or not. Been there, done that but it can be hard at times. Our
daughters will be together for Thanksgiving but we won't be there with
them.

 HN> gonna be for the next year. Anne is hoping (as am
 HN> I) that we'll get to go down for the seminar (which
 HN> currently is scheduled for 19 Dec) and stay for a
 HN> week and "Do Christmas" down there. But we'll see
 HN> how that shakes out.

It would be nice if it does work out. Find a hotel like Comfort Suites
or something of that sort where you get a kitchenette. Take down your
kitchen essentials and make dinner there. Sounds like fun if Anne is up
to it.

Catch you later,
