Sure. The '54 Chev didn't have any. (It lasted 19 years before
rusting out.) The '73 Plymouth slant six had lap belts, but in the
front seat only. By then they were required to be installed by
manufacturers but their usage was still voluntary. In 1986 my
parents bought a Toyota Cressida and gave the rusted out Plymouth to
Dutch Farmer Bill as the engine and transmission still worked fine.
He pulled it and used it to power his largest irrigation pump and it
is still running. And that Cressida is still in the family and on
the road as my sister bought it from the estate.

When I was 15 (in 1965) and started working in the grocery store,
the butcher there was holding the price of all steaks to $0.99 even
though he was loosing money at that price. He made it up on the rest
of the side though and the extra customers it brought in. You had to
arrive early in the day though to get rib steaks or T-bones at that
price. The sirloin ran out next.

In Grade 9, nickel chocolate bars went up to 6 cents.

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06

      Title: Almond Chocolate Chip Cookies (T&T)
 Categories: Cookies, Chocolate
      Yield: 24 servings

  2 2/3 c  Flour
      1 ts Salt
      1 ts Baking soda
      1 ts Baking powder
    2/3 c  Granulated sugar
  1 1/3 c  Packed brown sugar
      2    Eggs
      1 ts Vanilla extract
      1 ts Almond extract
      1 c  Slightly cooled MELTED
    Butter
      2    (10 ounce) packages
    Semisweet or milk chocolate
    Chips,
      2 c  Coarsely chopped toasted
    Almonds

  (toasting intensifies the almond flavor - be sure nuts are completely
  cooled before stirring into the dough, or they'll melt the chips)!

  Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F. Set out two large nonstick cookie
  sheets. (Do NOT grease).

  Mix the first four ingredients together.

  In a separate mixing bowl, stir together the sugars, eggs, flavorings
  and melted butter. Gradually stir in the flour mixture, blending well.
  Then stir in the chips and almonds. Use a 1/3 cup capacity ice cream
  scoop to drop dough (or drop by heaping tablespoonfuls) onto cookie
  sheets, allowing room for cookies to spread slightly. Bake, placing a
  single cookie sheet in the center of the preheated oven, for 15 to 18
  minutes, or until cookies are lightly browned and "just" set around
  the edges. (Cookies should still be somewhat soft in the middle -
  better to UNDER-BAKE slightly for soft, chewy cookies.)

  Yield: 2 to 3 dozen large "bakery-shoppe" type cookies.
