I agree.  My grandparents specifically had my truck ordered from the factory:
it's a "Trailer Special", rated at 20000 pounds towing capacity.  The rear
tires are a foot wide (and expensive to replace).  They towed several trailers
around with this truck.  I know they towed a 45' Alfa "park model" fifth-wheel
around for several years and then a newer model "park model" trailer with no
problems on the truck.

They disconnected the A/C for while they were towing for more power.  The
powertrain is good: 460 going into a C6 transmission going into a low-geared
Dana rear end.  The truck doesn't go fast but boy does she have torque!  I've
pulled out several cars, even a big Crown Vic police cruiser, out of ditches
and other interesting places.  The rear end has Posi-trac on it, I believe, so
that helps.

I still have the rails and power connection in the bed for a fifth-wheel hitch
if I ever bought one.  I have no doubt this truck could handle it.

The truck doesn't have cruise control but I could easily put that on there.
It's also got a very old hydraulic trailer brake control that I'd like to
convert to a full electric model one of these days.

While I don't think I'd take the truck cross-country, it's a good "farm truck"
for my occasional use these days.  My main use for the truck, with its large
"stand-up" shell on it, is an emergency communications vehicle.  One of my
interests in amateur radio is emergency communications and I'm a member of ARES
(Amateur Radio Emergency Service) and SKYWARN (I'm a certified weather
spotter), so the truck comes in handy for a comfortable place to operate if I
ever needed it to.

If I was going to do full-time towing again, I'd go get me a new F-350 if I had
the dosh to do so.

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06

      Title: Caroline's Snickerdoodles
 Categories: Snacks, Desserts, Cookies
      Yield: 60 Servings

      1 c  Shortening
  1 1/2 c  Sugar
      2    Eggs
  2 3/4 c  All purpose flour
      2 ts Cream of tartar
      1 ts Baking soda
    1/2 ts Salt
      2 tb Sugar
      2 ts Cinnamon

  Preheat oven to 400°F.

  Cream together the shortening, sugar and eggs. Sift the dry
  ingredients together and stir into sugar mixture. Chill the dough 2
  hours.

  Roll chilled dough into balls about the size of walnuts. Roll each in
  a mixture of 2 tablespoons sugar and 2 ts cinnamon. Place 2 inches
  apart on a greased cookie sheet. Bake 8 to 10 minutes.

  Makes about 5 dozen great little Snickerdoodles.
