Let me point out that Hawaiian eating habits were/are influenced by the
over-sized Polynesian genotypes who used to own those islands before the haoles
Dole, Stevens and Thurston usurped the gummint and deposed Queen Lili'uokalani
in a US Gummint (Stevens) supported coup.

Hawaiian eating habits are not those of America as a whole. That would be the
same as saying the Taswegians set the diet for all CoAans.

What we need are more studies. They would give statisticians, pundits and
pollsters something to do in the periods between election seasons. And keep the
rubbish collectors in jobs carting away all of the ignored material that is
binned. Of course, in America, election seasons like professional sports
seasons seem to go on forever.

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06

      Title: Chickpea & Herb Salad 
 Categories: Salads, Beans, Squash, Herbs, Fruits
      Yield: 4 servings

    3/4 c  Drained canned chickpeas
  1 1/2 c  Flat-leaf parsley; chopped *
    1/2 c  Mint leaves; rough chopped *
      1 sm Red onion; halved, thin
           - sliced *
      1    Lebanese cucumber; thin
           - sliced *
      2 tb Pomegranate juice
  1 1/2 tb Olive oil
    1/4 ts Ground cumin

  * These ingredients available free to freegans, dumpster
  divers or skip dippers, for these 'conscientious objectors
  to consumerism' saving money is secondary to reducing
  wastage. There's a small but growing group of
  well-educated city dwellers who are going through rubbish
  bins to get free stuff, according to a 2006 report by The
  Australia Institute.

  Combine all ingredients in a bowl. Season with salt and
  pepper. Stir. Cover. Stand for 15 minutes.

  Serve with fish.

  Note: Orange juice can be used instead of pomegranate
  juice.
