I remember reading about it. We hated to miss the picnic but the timing
was all wrong with school starting about then. But, the one the next
year, even tho it was small, was nice.

If I want shreddy bits, I'll cut shreddy bits. If I want stew meat, I
can cut it. I can cut up a chicken, not always cleanly, but decently.
And I'm not fast but pretty decent with a knife. Cut up a bunch of
peppers and onions this afternoon for the chilis I'll make tomorrow.

This was not the shaped and pressed rotisserie thing like we had in
Berlin; it was layers of meat.

She was known for her hash, IIRC.

Looks pretty good. My mom made hash on rare occaisions. I tried it once
(when I was cooking for the family) with less than stellar results; I
may try it again now that you've jogged my memory.
