We only bought the one German one. Library used book sales (when we do
hit them), we find other treasures. When my folks came to visit us in
HI, we did a drive around the island one day. Stopped at a library to
use the facilities; they had a sale going on. Found 4 James Michiners in
paperback for a quarter each, a 1970s Rodale hardback cook book for
$.50.

We took a commercial loaf of Hawaiian (really Portugese) sweet
bread--mostly white flour--and a home made loaf of whole wheat same to
our Life Group meal today. Came home with none of the commercial and
only 3 slices of the home made. The rounds were sliced, then cut in half
so it was actually 3 half slices. The kids must have inhaled the
commercial; I think the adults took the home made. We also brought home
enough kalua pork for at least one meal and spinach salad for supper
tonight plus lunch for me tomorrow. Originally it was about 8 pounds of
Boston Butt for the pork and a huge salad (bowl was larger than
tupperware's largest wondelier bowl with lid). We did send some pork,
salad & wheat bread home with one lady who's husband couldn't be there.
We also took a meal's worth over to a couple in the group--she's semi
shut in recovering from hip surgery.
