Further to that, today at the local BWS, there were cartons of 6
bottles of "cleanskins", at $12.  These were labelled, "2011 Semillon
Sauvignon Blanc", bottled by Vinpac International, Angaston, SA.
Naturally, I bought a carton, for Kevin and I to try.  While not a
great wine, it was quite pleasant drinking, when chilled.  A simple,
friendly, lemony quaffing white, suitable for drinking with chicken.
As it happened, I tried a very simple "Chicken rice" dish, which
comprised a half kg of chicken pieces marinated for 15 minutes in a
packet of Lobo brand (Thailand) "Spicy Chicken-in-rice seasoning mix",
then just mixed in with 300g of rice and water, and left to cook in
the rice cooker.  (I was looking for something that my non-cooking son
could cook.)  It turned out to be quite reasonable, for that sort of
thing, and went well with the $2/bottle wine.

Then came the discovery of the day.  I happened to have a small bottle
of South Australian Talinga Grove, lime infused EVOO, so I mixed that
with the white wine in a 1:5 ratio, shook it vigorously and sipped the
mixture before it settled out.  It was amazing!  The flavours combined
beautifully, with the wine reinforcing the lime in the oil.  Of course
it had to be shaken immediately before tasting, but it was worth it.

A good day's entertainment.
