Hi Michael,

It looks more toaster oven-ish than toaster like. Rectangular aluminum
box on feet, taller tho, the width is more like that of a regular
toaster. It has settings for top rack only, bottom rack only, top and
bottom or bagel best. The last is where you put one half of the bagel
cut side down on the top rack, other half, cut side up on the bottom
rack and only the center element will come on. I like my bagels more
toasty on both sides so I do them on the top rack only setting; they
turn out more toasted.

Our original toaster oven (wedding present) had various heat settings
but I'm somewhat skeptical of how accurate they were. Like you, I could
probably do quite well with a hot hot & low low; having the medium one
in there assures a better chance you'll hit closer to what the actual
temperature of the food is supposed to be.

I grew up having it on rare occaisions; my folks had a 2 slice toaster
that they got for a wedding present. (It may still be around.)  Since it
was so rare, we all wanted a couple of pieces which meant for slow going
getting enough made for everybody. So, for the most part, toast was
reserved for those who were sick. Now we have it regularly; I still like
a good piece of home made whole wheat bread with butter blend and home
made cinnamon/sugar mix. I had to mix up some c/s today so did it the
fast & easy way--put some of each in a small bowl, snapped on the lid
and shook to mix the two evenly. It worked and my shaker is replenished
with nairly a spill.

Today was one of our nice days--highs in the upper 60s, some wind but
sunny. Rain coming in tomorrow and a cool week end, with a good chance
of rain on Friday night into Saturday morning.
