====================
Hi Ruth,

-> RH> I was never a brownie. Baker of brownies maybe.

-> I've baked plenty myself. I was also a Brownie, Intermediate (before
-> they revised the program in the mid 60s), Junior, Cadette, (Both under
-> the new program) and Senior (revised program). I've also been a leader
-> at various times, altogether about 20 years in the program. Wouldn't
-> touch it now with a 20 foot pole, advised our daughter not to get her
-> girls involved in it.

 RH> I have no idea what it's like now, and since my daughters have four
 RH> feet and
 RH> meow it's not likely to be a problem.

They revised it again some years ago. Now it's ultra left, liberal,
super femiinist. Only thing they've kept seems to be the cookies but
we've not even bought those in several years.

-> RH> One would hope not. The poor locals wouldn't know what to make of
-> RH> them. I used to use the string bags for produce, but gave those
 RH> up.

-> I have some of the string bags but prefer the canvas type. Don't have to

 RH> Me too - nothing falls through the holes!

Over stuff them and things would. But, a lot more can be put in them
than the flimsy plastic bags you get at a lot of grocery stores. Most of
the time if I've got a choice of paper or plastic, I'll go for the
former (if I don't have my own). I get enough plastic other places; we
just donated a bag of bags (both types) to the Sharing Shop, second time
we've done that this school year.

-> RH> Pretty much. Standing still is ... not a good idea.

-> I know, that's why I appreciate the chef's mats I have in the kitchen.

 RH> In my case they help a bit, but not at all on the bad days.

-> easier to kick (but it doesn't move). Now if we could combine the good
-> features of both..................................

 RH> I'd still end up not using either. ;-)

I'd hunt them down if I knew they were available but not visible. Beats
standing on bare floor any day.

-> -> No, the knife was a family heirloom so I didn't dare lick it. Got a
-> -> piece of the cake, same as everybody else.

->  RH> Oh well.

-> More often I'll scrape the knife against the plate--don't want to risk
-> cutting my tongue. (G)

 RH> Depending on the knife, it can be avoided.

Still, not a good idea with a family (not yours) heirloom.

->  RH> A Bernina; I forget the model.

-> Don't know much about them; their sewing machines are supposed to be
-> really good tho. It's one brand I don't have.

 RH> The regular ones are; I don't know about sergers.

I should think so but then again, you never know. My serger is a
different brand than any of my (4) sewing machines; it has the air jet
threading (exclusive to Baby Lock) that I really appreciate. Plus, no
tensions to mess up.

-> That's what I was thinking when I said "original show". Remember the
-> line from the movie "Are they made from real Girl Scouts?"? BTW, today
-> is the 100th birthday of Girl Scouting in the USA.

 RH> Oh so that's where it came from.

Yes, saw the movie twice within a few weeks when we were stationed in
Berlin. Once was down in Bavaria, at one of the American R&R plaves but
I had a collapsed lung and bronchitis so it hurt to laugh. A few weeks
later, it came to Berlin and I was feeling better so we took the girls.
They'd seen some of the old tv shows so appreciated the movie.

-> RH> I had a nuked Lean Cuisine tonight.(sigh) I had to head back to
 RH> church
-> RH> and it was just easier.
 RH> ->
-> I've had days like that. Today was a "one thing after another" at home
-> for a while but they've quieted down for now. I've got to start supper
-> (reheat leftover meatloaf, baked potatoes and butternut squash) shortly.

 RH> I did roasted asparagus, sweet potato fries and pot roast. Not the
 RH> fanciest,
 RH> but I think I killed off half a pound of asparagus in one sitting.
 RH> There are worse things to overeat.

We polished off a good sized bag of kale between the 2 of us tonight, as
well as some tortellini with onion, pepper, garlic, mushroom & tofu
sauce.

Catch you later,
Ruth
