====================================================================
Aloha Ruth!
->
-> More like June temps out here--been in the 80s for almost 2 weeks. Due
-> to cool off to the 70s early next week.
->
26F here this morning at 6 am. will get up to
a whopping 46 sometime today.

-> ->  HN> That's ok, I wore enough for both of us!!
->
-> -> Go ahead. I normally do wear green but make it a point not to on
March
-> -> 17. I've done so for quite a few years; used to really irk the young
-> -> folks around me.
->
-> HN> Your clothes your choice I'd say.
->
-> Yes, and today's choice was jeans, a blue and white aloha shirt (that I
-> made) plus my usual walking shoes.
->
For me today is bluejeans and t-shirt.
pretty much every day is bluejeans and
t-shirt...unless I'm wearing shorts...then
it's shorts and t-shirt.

-> -> So I'll not use them and figure out some other way to make mini
quiches
-> -> and such like in a way that I can reheat them in the microwave.
-> -> shouldn't be too hard, actually.
->
-> HN> You can do like I do; make them in disposable
-> HN> aluminum foil pans, and when they are done
-> HN> freeze them then remove them from the pans
-> HN> and store them in ziploc bags.
->
-> That's most likely what I'll do. Do you do pot pies that way as well? If
-> so, single or double crust?
->
Have not made a pot pie in years
and years. Did go out last night
and pick up two of KFC's chicken
pot pies last night for dinner;
not bad at all, not sure that it's
worth the $3.99 price though.

-> ->  HN> "A", but I suppose it could be done.
->
-> -> Not really, just make the 2 lines converge more at the top.
->
->  HN> Yeah...but that's not the way I do it.
-> HN> and I'm not going to modify it to make
->  HN> a different letter (grin).
->
-> Not even if Amanda asked you to do a special one for her?
->
If she asked I'd make a nice
styleized "A" for her a bit more
"cursive" than my pie marks.

-> -> HN> Yes, I loved to listen to her play, it was
-> -> HN> my first exposure to classical music.
->
-> -> Our girls were exposed from almost the time they were born. They
really
-> -> learned to appreciate it from listening to PDQ Bach.
->
-> HN> Same here, as she was my grandmother
-> HN> from the time I was born (grin). I just
-> HN> never knew I was listening to classical
-> HN> music until much later when I heard the
-> HN> same songs my grandmother played being
->  HN> played by others.
->
-> My dad would put records on, usually Sunday afternoons, but it was a
-> mixed bag of Sousa, 1812 Overture (and other classical), train sound
-> effects (those 3 were dubbed "parade, cannon and choo-choo) and more. I
-> pretty much tuned it out--heard it but didn't really listen.
->
My folks played country and western most of
the time...I tuned it out as best I could
unitl I could buy my own radio and tune
into stations that I wanted to hear.

-> -> -> knew (fall of 07), house was for sale but we didn't want to buy
it.
->
-> -> HN> Smart enough to know there are
-> ->  HN> better bargains out there!
->
-> -> Steve was still active duty at the time, not knowing where we would
go
-> -> to school afterward. Doubt we'll be moving back to eastern NC, but,
you
-> -> never know.
->
-> HN> Never know for sure! The benefit is
-> HN> that you can go where your heart calls
->  HN> you to go.
->
-> Now we can, as long as there's a job in that area as well. We're not
-> ready to settle back in our rockers full time yet.
->
True, but you could survive on Steve's
retirement income if you wished to do so.
Which gives you the liberty to follow your
heart to wherever you wish to look for that
job.
->
-> -> BTW, went back to the new bbq place for supper tonight now that
they're
-> -> properly open. Ribs are St. Louis style dry rub, not Memphis. Steve
had
-> -> a half rack with pinto beans and fries; I had pulled pork with potato
-> -> salad (mustard in the dressing, eggs, potatoes, celery & mayo) and
-> -> (green) cole slaw--light dressing with celery seed & mayo. Ribs were
-> -> just a bit drier than the other night but had a well defined smoke
ring,
-> -> still lots of flavor. Pulled pork was really good; I put a fair
squeeze
-> -> of Lexington style red bbq sauce on it. (We split our meats.) We
ended
-> -> up taking about half of our meats home, plus some slaw for me and
beans
-> -> for Steve. It'll make a good supper tomorrow night.
->
-> HN> Most Memphis places I've eaten at serve
-> HN> dry ribs with sauce on the side. Most are
-> HN> cooked with a dry rub, then sauced at the
-> HN> table. Potato salad with mustard and eggs
-> HN> in it is the style my mom makes so it's my
-> HN> favorite...with dill pickles in it too!
-> HN> I love pulled pork, even better than ribs
->  HN> and I LOVE ribs!! I have found a new bbq
-> HN> place here in town and am looking forward
-> HN> to giving them a try one of these days.
->
-> Soon as you have somebody to go with? Steve just pulled a chuck roast
-> off the smoker; a Boston butt is still on.
->
I think I'll wait until Michael's next
visit and we may make a BBQ safari for a
day or two!
chat with you soon!
