Hey Ruth!
->
-> -> HN> are fine for me. If I'm going on a shoot
-> -> HN> or nature trip for photography, I am
-> -> HN> focused on that task at hand, and I
->
-> -> For that kind of work, the less distraction the better.
->
-> HN> Actually Anne is a great help when
->  HN> doing nature shooting, she's a good
-> HN> PA most of the time and has a good
-> HN> eye for finding interesting things
-> HN> for me to shoot. Amanda is the same.
->
-> Got them well trained? Of course you have to be really quiet to get some
-> nature shots; do you use sign language? (G)
->
(grin) Very Big Very Expensive lenses!

-> -> HN> museum, or even an interesting cafe for
-> ->  HN> tea and coffee.
->
-> -> Steve's not all that into art so it would have to be a park or museum
-> -> that interested both of us, with a stop at the cafe afterward to rest
my
-> -> feet.
->
-> HN> We stop to rest our feet too!
-> HN> A nice glass of ice Tea and
-> HN> a shady spot to watch the
-> HN> world go by is a great way
-> HN> to spend some time together.
->
-> And it can be really intersting people watching. I used to (don't do it
-> as much any more) like to observe what people put in their grocery
-> buggies; there could be a lot read into the contents of one.
->
In Tucson there was a botanical garden
we liked, had a nice place for sitting
on a shaded veranda with a nice breeze
most of the time. Great for watching
folks wandering among the different
plantings!

-> ->  HN> Sounds interesting and fun!
->  HN> ->
-> -> It was, the rub was St. Louis style tho, not Memphis. We went there
for
-> -> supper last night. I had the pulled pork with the Lexington sauce,
->
-> HN> What is the differences you noted between
-> HN> St Louis dry rub and Memphis dry rub?
->
-> I'm not sure, have to do some research on the spicing of them. But,
-> these are the squared off ribs.
->
Ahh, they cut off the extra meaty
"tips" and probably offer them as a
separate menu choice.

-> -> HN> places specialize in sculpture, some in
-> -> HN> paintings, and some even in native art.
-> -> HN> There are also museums, and other things
->
-> -> Depending on the time available, we might head down to Sierra Vista
-> to -> visit friends instead.
->
-> -> HN> We don't have friends in Sierra Vista, HN> so we'd have to go
-> somewhere else instead (grin)
->
-> We still know a lot of folks in the area. Steve sent one, a cat lover, a
-> link to an internet clip of a cat piano today. Should be interesting to
-> see how the area has changed since we were last there in September of
-> 06. Savannah had (in the area where we "ran around in) quite a few
-> changes we noticed when we stopped briefly in January, first time back
-> since August of 09.
->
Yep, time changes most things...even
us!
->
-> -> HN> to enjoy. As far as restaurants go, we also
-> -> HN> enjoy the "hole in the wall" spots, but
-> -> HN> if we saw and interesting ethnic restaurant
-> ->  HN> that we'd never experienced we'd be more
-> -> HN> likely to visit there to explore another
-> ->  HN> new cuisine.
->
-> -> We might do that too, especially if a menu is posted so we can check
it
-> -> out somewhat before going inside. See if our wallets can handle the
-> -> cost. (G)
->
-> HN> For a one time excursion we say
-> HN> forget the wallet. A new experience
-> HN> is often worth the price!
->
-> We still like to keep things to a reasonable level for the most part.
-> Right now, trying to save up for a move by not doing a lot of travel
-> (much as I'd like to get out west to see grand kids again) and paying
-> off credit cards completely.
->
If I had had the money at the time
we were in California for Amanda's
Doctoral presentation, I would
(and had made plans to) have liked
to have done a dinner at the French
Laundry, Thomas Keller's flagship
restaurant in Napa...my guess is it
would have run between $600 and
$1000 for the meal for the four of
us...however Amanda's beau is beyond
regular shyness and borders on
it being a medical condition. So we
thought it best not to put him into
such a situation...but I would have
liked to have eaten there!!

-> ->  HN> If I remember correctly the Phoenix
-> -> HN> Zoo is in Papago park, which is sort
-> -> HN> of at the convergence of Phoenix, Tempe
->
-> -> I'm not sure on the location; we went after dark and I didn't catch
all
-> -> the landmarks. Deborah was living in Mesa then, actually about a 10
-> -> minute drive from the zoo, IIRC.
->
-> -> HN> Mesa, and Scottsdale. It's hard to tell
-> -> HN> when you leave one and enter another!
->
-> -> If that isn't the truth.....................
->
->  HN> Oh lordy yes!!
->
-> And add in Gilbert, Queen Creek, Peoria, Glendale, etc, etc.
->
yep...Phoenix is surrounded by them to
the extent that one wonders what the
original intent was!!

-> -> HN> it and gives you a lot of chances to
-> -> HN> sit in the shade as well as experience
-> ->  HN> the desert environment.
->
-> -> Lived there, done that. Actually, Fort Huachuca was high desert, main
-> -> parade field flag pole was just about a mile in elevation. We did
visit
-> -> the Sonoran Desert Museum in Tucson also.
->
-> HN> We enjoy the Sonoran Desert museum as well
->
chat with you soon!
