No Sudafed, just a bit more sleep than Usual...

One of those dogs would not be for me either.. I do remember as a teen
liking the footlongs at the Drive In theatres of all places.

Haven't really been in lurk mode much either. Just pretty busy and
absent. But when I get time I love to check things out. Always Good
People here.

The Following is a recipe that reminds me of when I was Growing up, I
was raised in The Orthodox Church. Ours was an offshoot of The Russian
Orthodox church. I only mention this because some of the best food that
I had tasted came from those people with Ukraine heritage. It was cheap
food, but delish. During Lent when the Orthodox church goes mostly
meatless all throughout till Easter, This recipe was one of my
favorites. Reminder the Kraut was not the strong Canned stuff from the
store, but You can mellow out a good bagged or canned kraut by rinsing.
This combo oddly mixes well for a great combination of flavors and
texture. Good for meatless days for those who fast from meat during this
time of year or for those who like to go meatless as a lifestyle or just
for those who like to try different good food ;-)



Noodles and sauerkraut, or kluski z kwasna kapusta (KLOOSS-kee z
KVAHSS-nah kah-POOSS-tah) in Polish, is a favorite side dish in
Polish families.

Sautéed onions, sauerkraut and mushrooms (either imported Polish
mushrooms or canned mushrooms) mingle with buttered kluski noodles for
an unassuming yet delicious side dish.

Kluski z Kwasna Kapusta reheats well and actually flavors overnight.
It's also a good candidate for the freezer.

Prep Time: 20 minutes
Cook Time: 45 minutes
Total Time: 1 hour, 5 minutes
Yield: 10 servings Noodles & Sauerkraut
Ingredients:

    1 pound kluski-style noodles, cooked and drained
        1/2 pound (2 sticks) butter
            1 large onion, coarsely chopped
                1 (32-ounce) container sauerkraut, drained (rinsed or
                unrinsed as desired)
                    1 (14-ounce) can mushrooms, stems and pieces,
                    undrained

Preparation:

    Saute onion in butter until translucent. Add kraut and cook over
    medium-low for 15 minutes, stirring frequently.

    Heat oven to 350 degrees. In a large pan or bowl, combine cooked
    noodles, sauerkraut mixture and undrained mushrooms, mixing
    thoroughly. Adjust seasonings if necessary.

    Transfer to a large casserole dish that has been coated with
    vegetable spray. Bake 45 minutes or until top just starts to brown.
