Hiya Ruth!

-> -> HN> Actually Anne is a great help when
-> ->  HN> doing nature shooting, she's a good
-> -> HN> PA most of the time and has a good
-> -> HN> eye for finding interesting things
-> -> HN> for me to shoot. Amanda is the same.
->
-> -> Got them well trained? Of course you have to be really quiet to get
some
-> -> nature shots; do you use sign language? (G)
->
-> HN> (grin) Very Big Very Expensive lenses!
->
-> I meant to communicate with your assistants.
->
Not much talking going on when the shooting
starts...hand signals are very small and
discreet as to not disturb the animals.
If I'm shooting flowers it doesn't matter,
the don't seem to mind conversation!

-> -> HN> We stop to rest our feet too!
-> -> HN> A nice glass of ice Tea and
-> ->  HN> a shady spot to watch the
-> -> HN> world go by is a great way
-> -> HN> to spend some time together.
->
-> -> And it can be really intersting people watching. I used to (don't do
it
-> -> as much any more) like to observe what people put in their grocery
-> -> buggies; there could be a lot read into the contents of one.
->
-> HN> In Tucson there was a botanical garden
-> HN> we liked, had a nice place for sitting
-> HN> on a shaded veranda with a nice breeze
-> HN> most of the time. Great for watching
-> HN> folks wandering among the different
->  HN> plantings!
->
-> Noticing who was smart enough to bring a hat to keep the sun off their
-> head and a bottle of water so as not to dehydrate? Hats work better than
-> visors; with the latter you're still exposing a good bit of the head to
-> the sun. The former shades all of the head and, depending on the
-> materials used in construction, can be an improvised evaporative cooler
-> with the water bottle.
->
Yep...amazing how people will wear
designer sunglasses and no hat.

-> -> HN> What is the differences you noted between
-> -> HN> St Louis dry rub and Memphis dry rub?
->
-> -> I'm not sure, have to do some research on the spicing of them. But,
-> -> these are the squared off ribs.
->
-> HN> Ahh, they cut off the extra meaty
-> HN> "tips" and probably offer them as a
->  HN> separate menu choice.
->
-> Didn't notice it on the menu, have to look when we go back. But, it was
-> brought up that the St. Louis spicing is sweeter than the Memphis
-> version.
->
I try to avoid the sweeter ones, unless
I make them myself with sugar substitutes.

-> -> -> HN> We don't have friends in Sierra Vista, HN> so we'd have to go
-> -> somewhere else instead (grin)
->
-> -> We still know a lot of folks in the area. Steve sent one, a cat
lover,
a
-> -> link to an internet clip of a cat piano today. Should be interesting
to
-> -> see how the area has changed since we were last there in September of
-> -> 06. Savannah had (in the area where we "ran around in) quite a few
-> -> changes we noticed when we stopped briefly in January, first time
back
-> -> since August of 09.
->
->  HN> Yep, time changes most things...even
->  HN> us!
->
-> And in some cases, it's a case of the sands of time drifting downward.
-> (G)
->
and outward!

-> -> HN> For a one time excursion we say
-> ->  HN> forget the wallet. A new experience
-> -> HN> is often worth the price!
->
-> -> We still like to keep things to a reasonable level for the most part.
-> -> Right now, trying to save up for a move by not doing a lot of travel
-> -> (much as I'd like to get out west to see grand kids again) and paying
-> -> off credit cards completely.
->
-> HN> If I had had the money at the time
-> HN> we were in California for Amanda's
->  HN> Doctoral presentation, I would
-> HN> (and had made plans to) have liked
-> HN> to have done a dinner at the French
->  HN> Laundry, Thomas Keller's flagship
-> HN> restaurant in Napa...my guess is it
-> HN> would have run between $600 and
-> HN> $1000 for the meal for the four of
->
-> Well beyond what we ould have chosen. Not sure where we'll celebrate
-> Steve's graduation but will probably have some family in and will take
-> them out to eat after the ceremony.
->
Well beyond what we would have normally
chosen too...but sometimes the once
in a lifetime thing comes along and
you get a chance to take it. I would
have spent it without regret at the
time had we had the $$ AND if it would
not have been a wasted effort on Amanda's
boyfriend.

->  HN> us...however Amanda's beau is beyond
-> HN> regular shyness and borders on
-> HN> it being a medical condition. So we
-> HN> thought it best not to put him into
->  HN> such a situation...but I would have
->
-> Does he talk to you? Our son in law didn't talk much with us when he
-> first started dating Rachel, then opened up to me more, then Steve. Now
-> he's at ease with both of us.
->
Not much (yet)very little eye contact
and uber shy.

-> -> And add in Gilbert, Queen Creek, Peoria, Glendale, etc, etc.
->
-> HN> yep...Phoenix is surrounded by them to
-> HN> the extent that one wonders what the
->  HN> original intent was!!
->
-> We've got lots of open land so let's build out, not up. Seems to be the
-> rule in that part of the country. Look at LA. (G)
->
One would have thought they'd have been
a bit further apart...but it seems like
they area is all clustered around Phoenix
"proper".
chat with you soon!
