pass me by for as long as I can manage.

Unless those are habbies or better, the 7 lb of meat would
suck down those hots so fast it'd make your head spin. And
the Red Devil would be a shy little sidelight to that - a
tablespoon of extract would have a hard time being found in
that big pot of food, and foods with infernal identities
tend to be much tamer than their intended impressions. To
which I may add the Rapscallion ale, brewed by the Paper
City Brewery on behalf of Boston Barrel and Tap: I tasted
this on the strength of its handle, which was a femalish
demon in red: well, it was your above average, clean, wimpy,
low alcohol, low hops, middle of the road beverage. I asked
for a Harpoon IPA instead, and the bartender said, oh, I have
to get the keg changed, followed by an oh, I don't have a
backup keg. So with my bacon-caramelized onion-Cheddar burger
I had a Sempe VSOP Armagnac instead, which was probably
better anyway (though twice the price). It was actually a
very good Angus burger, done medium-rare rather than extra
rare, sadly, but it went really well with brandy. Les

Counterirritation and perhaps just plain brute force numbing I think
constitute the primary mechanisms for pepper-based pain relief.

I am still quite unconvinced at the claims of a capsaicin-induced

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v7.07

      Title: Gingered Chinese Noodle Soup
 Categories: Chinese, Soups
   Servings:  3

      3 oz Cellophane Noodles
      1 c  Shredded Watercress Leaves
      2 tb Vegetable Oil
    1/2 c  Thinly Sliced Mushrooms
      1 md Onion, Sliced
      1 c  Snow Peas
      2    Thin Carrots Sliced Diagonal
      1 ts Oriental Sesame Oil
      1 ts Minced Fresh Ginger
      1 ts Rice Vinegar
      3 c  Chicken Stock
      2    Green Onions Thinly Sliced
  1 1/2 c  Water
      1 tb Soy Sauce
      1 c  Ham Cut Into Julienne

  Put cellophane noodles in large bowl.   Cover with boiling water. Let stand
  5 minutes.  Drain thoroughly. Heat oil in wok or deep large skillet over
  medium high heat.   Add onion and carrots and stir fry 3 minutes. Add
  garlic and ginger stir fry 30 seconds.  Add stock, water and soy sauce.
  Cover and boil 2 minutes. Add ham water cress, mushrooms and noodles.
  Return to boil.  Cover, turn off heat and let steep 2 minutes. Add snow
  peas, cover and let steep until vegetables are crisp tender about 3
  minutes.  Stir in sesame oil, rice vinegar and red pepper flakes. Adjust
  seasoning.  Serve in deep bowls, sprinkle with green onions.
