Not very well. I tend to buy Australian, Spanish, Chilean and
Argentine reds.
 
With Canada's cool climate, whites tend to be better than reds and
the only places that can make decent wines of any kind is southern
Ontario and B.C.

The Okanagan Valley is B.C. largest, oldest and best known wine
district.

One way to select from a host of unknown labels is to watch for the
VQA symbol. The Vintners Quality Alliance sign is Canada's symbol
of quality. It is similar to the regulatory systems in place in
France (AOC) and Italy (DOC).

  Servings: 6

      3    anchovy fillets
      2    cloves garlic
    1/2 ts English Mustard
      5 ds Worcestershire sauce
    1/2    lemon's juice
      2    raw egg yolks
      1 tb romano or parmesan, grated
    5/8 c  olive oil

In food processor or blender buzz up the first 7 ingredients.
Continue buzzing while you slowly add oil. This should be the
texture of mayonnaise.

In a large, shallow bowl place a head of romaine, torn to whole or
half leaf size. Toss until leaves are thoroughly coated. Add a half
cup of croutons (broken bread sticks do fine) and 2 more tsp of
cheese; toss until thoroughly mixed. Eat.

If you left the leaves whole you can save on silver by eating with
your fingers.
