Hi Janis,

>> CONTINUED FROM PREVIOUS MESSAGE <<

JK> tairs will be a PIA for me (ouch), but at least I only have to use
JK> them once in the morning and once at night :)

We finally convinced my parents to put a lift in last year. Now they
wonder why they waited so long to do it. It's a big help; they don't
have to worry about those stairs any more. Now if we can convince them
of the wisdom of a ramp outside.......................

>> The total Sq. footage is 1632.. so it's not huge or immense to clean,
>> but there is room for "stuff" (g).

JK> > Nice, but not too big. Hopefully a good flow to the main rooms.

JK> Yes, it is I think..

That's a plus. We have the kitchen & living room in the front, then a
bathroom & one bedroom (the computer room) starting to head down the
hall & the other bedroom (sewing room), master bedroom/bath at the end
of the hall. Very compact but if I'm working in the kitchen, I can't
always hear Steve in the computer room.

>> > Cozy but it's been home now for 3 years. Steve
>> > graduates in December; as of now, not sure of our plans after that.

>> Wow.. that time went fast, didn't it.. :)

JK> > Yes, and no. It does seem like a short time ago we got here but
JK> looking > back at all the now completed classes, we can see how long
JK> sew, > not only for Santa, but other projects as well, once I'm done.
JK> I'll also > have more time for "gourmet cooking" (trying out new
JK> recipies) between > sewing projects.

JK> Fantastic.. and yes, I know what you mean about how long it's been. I

As the frog said, "time's fun when you're having flies". ()

JK> may rue the sewing setup in the new place.. I can use the smaller of
JK> the two bedrooms upstairs, or perhaps put it in the larger master
JK> bedroom upstairs.. Undecided right now (g).

It'll work out, same as it has for us everywhere we've lived. In HI
Steve thought of combining the computer & sewing rooms into one. That
lasted as long as it took him to back up into a piece of my sewing
equipment; he reconsidered and moved the computer equipment into its own
room. That's the last place we've lived that had decent storage for our
kitchen stuff--had a bigger kitchen and we adapted a closet into a
pantry/storage area.

>> We are hiring movers so that's something.. but we'll still have plenty
>> to do before and after the closing (grin). THEN we have to get this
>> house in Windsor on the market - such fun ... :(

JK> > Always fun! We had the Army do most of our moving, including the
JK> last > one up here. The next one we'll have to hire movers for but
JK> will do some > of the things we did to get ready for military moves.
 JK> Have to start
JK> > thinking of what we will be taking over to the sharing shop in the
 JK> next > few months.

JK> Know what that's like :) :) I've been tossing unnecessary things and
JK> cleaing out closets in preparation for packing.. you know, unused
JK> cookware, clothes I haven't worn in ages.. hehe.. all those things
JK> that just seem to be "around".. next we'll have to decide what
JK> furniture we'll be taking along to the new place.. I think I'll be

We'll probably take all the furniture we have, then make some decisions
once we see where we'll be living. Talking about ditching either the
sofa or love seat (but not both), the big chair that matches the other
furniture & probably the ottoman. We want to get a couple of recliners
again.

JK> putting my larger 'sewing table' in the kitchen as the kitchen/dining
JK> table but we're not sure yet. We need to get into the house again and
JK> measure floor space in rooms like the kitchen, etc. I'm also glad my
JK> hutch is very small compared to some I've owned in the past. It
JK> should fit just fine in the kitchen.

We'll be making decisions too, but not as soon as you have to. Any
chance you can get into the house to get some measurements? Our kitchen
is big (compared to the rest of the house) but it's also the dining and
laundry areas so actual work space is limited.

JK> > If we can make it to the picnic, I'll do the strawberry/spinach
JK> salad. I > won't be able to get from my usual vendors but I should be
JK> able to get > really good produce up there too--and strawberries
JK> should still be in > season in NY. Near the end but still should be
 JK> able to get some.

JK> That sounds great, Ruth.. and yes, the farmers market should have an
JK> abundance of fresh strawberries I'd think. Spinach might be chancy,
JK> but if there isn't any, Wegmens has a great organic fresh vegetable
JK> section where you could pick that up. I'll see if I can get some
JK> planted as well. There are varieties you can plant that would be able
JK> to take the more intense summer weather.

It's a good salad; I'll probably make another one tomorrow night to go
with some left overs. Now's the time of year when I really enjoy the
variety of veggies, especially, that I can get. If I push myself to eat
more of them, fixed without heavy dressings, sauces, etc and less meat
or pasta, I might be able to lose a few pounds. Easier said than done
tho. (G)

Ruth
