Not that it makes any difference, but I wonder if it's
effects or residuum. If my brother were to get significantly
better (I don't hold out too high hopes) in the processing
department, would the memories and habits be too heavy to
ignore, and would his life still continue to suffer because
of that.

I admit that a lot was thrown at her, and I admit that
there's major nutso in our family history, but she seemed
really over the top in her looniness, and it was difficult
to tolerate, let alone like, her.

But in your mom's case, if the pain gets too too awful, she
might be convinced to take medications. With a mentally ill
person, the delusions may include that drugs aren't necessary
or won't do any good. Or are poison.

By the way, did I tell you that simple Tylenol has improved
my life this week so much I hardly have words - the crick in
my neck has nearly disappeared, and I feel pretty darn good.
It had never really worked for me before, and I marvel for
the first time at modern 20th century analgesic pharmacology.

A point I've made repeatedly: there but for the grace of my
sister go I. Taking part of the heat (though until I left
altogether she got a lot less than I did), bouncing ideas of
sanity off each other, and uniting against a common enemy
(which didn't happen either until I left the household).

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.05

      Title: (SBS) Salmon & Paperbark Roll With Native Berry Salsa
 Categories: Australian, Salmon
      Yield: 8 servings

      8    Salmon steaks
           Ground lemon myrtle
           Warrigal greens
           Knob of butter
           Crust:
    1/2 c  Chopped macadamia nuts and
           Another type of nut
      1 c  Muesli (not toasted)
    250 g  Melted butter
      8    Paperbark sheets
           Salsa:
      2 tb Dijon mustard
      2 tb Balsamic vinegar
      1 c  Oil
           Juice and rind of 2 oranges
           Juice and rind of 1 lemon
           And 1 lime
      1 c  Fresh lillipillies or
           Riberries
      1    Red onion, chopped
      1    Green apple, chopped
      1 bn Mint, chopped

  Season salmon steaks with ground lemon myrtle and sear lightly on each
  side. Blanch the warrigal greens until just wilted and spread out on
  bench to form a rectangle, place a knob of butter in the centre and
  wrap the warrigal greens around each seared salmon steak.

  Mix together the crust ingredients.

  Place each wrapped steak on a dampened paperbark sheet and cover with
  a layer of crust over the salmon. Trim edges of bark with scissors
  then wrap into a bonbon shape, allowing a little opening for steam to
  escape. Use string to tie the bark at each end.

  Place the parcel(s)on a baking tray, cover with tin foil and bake in
  moderate oven for 12-15 minutes.

  Serve each parcel with a side dish of salsa

  Salsa Method Halve the lillipillies and remove seeds. In a bowl,
  whisk the mustard and vinegar then add all the other ingredients. Mix
  well.
