Not normally, as it is so sweet.  The nearest, that I eat
occasionally, is marmalade, made with bitter lemons, the bitterness of
which counters the sweetness of the sugar.

I have already disgusted young Jim by confessing that I didn't like
chocolate much - except when it is coating Leonore's liqueur cumquats.
Sugar does have its place, but only when balanced by a suitable depth
of sour, bitter or alcohol flavour.

The wings turned out well, marinated in spices and cooked buried in a
few cups of rice in the rice cooker.  The ginger garlic paste I used
for making spicy eggplant, but it was something of a disappointment,
as it was very salty.  I checked the label, and it said 4%, but it
tasted stronger.  (Salt is another flavour I don't like much of.)

Ah, that would explain a lot.

There was a definite, quick decrease in the cat pee aroma released in
the first few seconds after unscrewing the lid.

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.05
 
      Title: Melon Made Sippable
 Categories: Beverages, Fruit, Wines
      Yield: 2 servings
 
      1    Ripe French Orange melon or
           Really good cantaloupe
           1/2 TB granulated sugar
           Juice of 1/2 lime
    1/2 c  Light, crisp white wine,
           Sauvignon blanc
      1 pn Salt
           Few sprigs of fresh mint,
           For garnish
 
  Quarter the melon, and scoop out the seeds. Working with one quarter
  at a time, set the wedge on its side to steady it, and then carefully
  trim the skin away from the flesh with a sharp knife. Discard the
  skin, and cut the flesh into rough chunks.
  
  In a blender, puree the melon with the sugar, lime juice, wine, and
  salt. Taste, and adjust as needed.
  
  Refrigerate until thoroughly chilled: if you've started with a cold
  melon and cold wine, you won't have to wait long. Stir well before
  serving, the liquids tend to separate slightly from the suspended
  solids, and finish with a garnish of mint, if you like.
