Actually Bligh was a very skilled sailor and was in good odour with the Lords
of the Admiralty. He was governour of New South Wales for only a brief time
before going back to sea. When he was old his last four years were spent in the
Yellow Squadron (old, half-pay retirees). He was a Vice Admiral of the Blue
when he snuffed it.

From an early age Bligh was destined for a life at sea as his parents enlisted
him as a "captain's servant" to Captain Keith Stewart at the age of 7 years and
9 months. Sailing aboard HMS Monmouth, this practice was fairly common as it
allowed youngsters to quickly accrue the years of service needed in order to
take the exam for lieutenant. Returning home in 1763, he quickly proved himself
gifted at mathematics and navigation. After his mother's death, he re-entered
the navy in 1770, at the age of 16.

      Title: Samoan Breadfruit Or Taro Salad
 Categories: Salads, Vegetables, Beans
      Yield: 4 servings
 
      3 c  Cooked breadfruit or taro
      1 c  Cooked fish or/and meat, egg
           - chicken
    1/2 c  Cooked beans
    1/2 c  Sliced tomato
    1/2 c  Sliced cucumber
    1/2 c  Shredded cabbage
      2 tb Chopped green onions
    1/2 ts Salt
           Salad dressing to moisten
 
  Combine all ingredients, mixing lightly with salad
  dressing. Serve on lettuce leaf.
