When our son was young, we ate at Friendly's a lot.  He was pretty
young, maybe 3 or 4?, when he decided that he wanted to get a Jim Dandy
for dessert (4 scoops of icecream with various toppings and a banana). 
Curious, we let him do it (his dad got a small sundae just in case he
couldn't eat it all)... and to everyone's surprise, he ate the whole
thing, and still had room for more... For some years thereafter, he'd
regularly surprise waitresses by ordering two Kid Stuff meals, eating
them all, and then finishing up with a Jim Dandy or an equivalent.  He's
kinda grown out of that now, but he still has idiosyncrasies.. :)

I can see a lot of benefit to that scheme...  At the larger asian
buffets I tend more and more to just grab appetizer-y things...
