I had an uncle who had diabetes for years but it wasn't picked up on
until he got his draft notice for WWII. He had other health issues as
well so got a deferment and passed away a few years ago. He'd had to
have both legs amputated several years ago (don't know how high up)
because of the diabetes.

I still have to do it once a day but check in the evening as well, just
for GP. This morning it was 105; the past couple before that it was 108.
So, things are improving.

Sounds good; I would have had a half sandwich and a bite or two of the
cake. We went to a wedding on Saturday; groom's cake was chocolate &
other cake was white. I had a small bit of both without adverse effects
on the blood sugar levels.

Cooking for two is easier than cooking for one. It's not as enjoyable
when there's no one else around to appreciate the efforts. When Steve
had TDYs, I had the girls around to cook for, otherwise it would have
been more expedient than healthy cooking. I've done the former a few
times now that the girls are gone a few times when Steve was gone.
