Hi Carol,

CS> Yup! That works. I dont have her class list yet but her savings pays
CS> tuition and I have to pay for a car (simple beater for the first one)
CS> and books for he r. Rest is as normal so no biggie.

Also check out used bookstores. But verify that the edition found there
is the edition the instructor is using. Some of us ordered our Emily
Post thru Amazon & got the 18th edition; others in the class bought it
at the campus book store & got the 17th (which is what the instructor
had). Same with Robert's so the instructor just double checked page
numbers when she referred to some things. Some showed up on the final
exam (open book) so she had to make sure she had the right page numbers
for both editions.

CS> I didnt do that well in college because I was also working full time
CS> to pay for it. I finally burned out on it and went military.

I didn't do that well either but made it thru for my BA. Sociology
major, psychology & art minors and have probably productively used the
art the most. The other 2 are people relationship type things--use them
a lot less formally but the art comes out in a lot of my work.

CS> My diabetic friends tell me it's a lot more than just carb counting
CS> but over time with testing your own BG's, you can find what odd item
CS> makes you spike. D on't be shocked if you spike on some items at a
CS> particular time of day and not at others.

I'm still in the upward part of the learning curve. My PCM says I can
get by with doing the BG once a day (in the morning) but I also do it
just before the nightly insulin intake, just to see how it's running.
But, the am ones continue to stay on the lower end of the range I was
told to aim for.

 > That's a good number of people! I buy for just the 2 of us (or plus our

CS> It's a good sized place and i plan to go Wed. They are only open once
CS> a week that night. Its a farmers auction.

So what are you putting up this week or are you just getting it for the
weekly eats? We didn't get to go to the local market yesterday; would
have been interesting to see what they had. My folks have a basic garden
in (lettuce, tomatoes, corn) but I would have tried to get some summer
squash. If successful, then I would have shown my mom different ways to
fix it. Right now they're using a lot of commercially canned (and some
frozen) vegetables; I'll be glad to get back to our fresh veggies when
we get home.

CS> I really only know pork lumpia but i have to admit, mine's so good
CS> you'd think you were in Manila.

I've never been to Manila but my dad was--during WWII. Doubt if he had
the lumpia tho. (G)
