Nice of him but if you came back, it was worth it for him. Most of the
time a meal like that will start out OK but the heat builds as I keep
eating it. Most times I'll make it thru, sometimes tho, I've had to push
it away.

No, home canned peaches. I put up 13 pints last year in extra light
syrup before I knew I was diabetic. We're still eating them.

I remember--and changing out the screens for storm windows every fall.
One of the first things my folks bought when Mom started working was
aluminum combo screens/storm doors & windows. You just slide the proper
panel into place; they're still on the house now some 45 years later.
Beat wrestling those heavy storm windows and screens.

That's one good use for it--either a big family or lots of singles could
share it. It might get sub divided into apartments again; you did have
the extra downstairs kitchen IIRC.
