Oh, sure, I can talk basics with some of them, and
given my logical side can even wow the occasional
denizen of the 19th century with my ability to fix
some problems. But talking puters with people who
actually know something, well, I'm not good at it.

Not at all. The nonstandardization of nonstandard
keyboards bothers me, though.

We're talking more protein than starch in calories and
volume both. One of those weird and unexplainable phenomena.

You are being perhaps overmedicated - one hopes they can cut
down on your units. Maybe you aren't even a real diabetic -
it could have been some kind of situational disorder.

Chefs (see Vatel) can be very emotional creatures.

Loiseau, the author of this admittedly ordinary recipe, was the
chef and owner of La Cote d'Or, a 3-Michelin-star restaurant (the
fanciest places I've gone to have 1, a couple 2) and one of
Gault-Millau's very top restaurants with a near-perfect 19/20
(the fanciest places I've gone to rate no more than 17). Well, a
few years ago, Gault dropped his rating to 17, and there was a
nasty rumor (turned out to be false, though widely reported in
some French newspapers) that he was to be demoted to 2 stars.
So he did what seemed the sensible thing at the time and swallowed
a pistol barrel. Thus tragic in the classic sense of hubris
rewarded by destruction.

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v7.07

      Title: Indonesian Steak with Onions
 Categories: Indonesian, Beef
   Servings:  6

      3 lb Chuck steak
      2 md Onions, chopped
      1 cl Garlic, minced
      2 ts Crushed coriander
  1 1/2 ts Salt
    1/2 ts Black pepper
           Dash cayenne pepper
      2 tb Lemon juice
      1 tb Brown sugar (opt)
      2 tb Soy sauce

  In a large bowl, toss the onions, garlic, coriander, salt and both types of
  pepper.  Add and mix the lemon juice, brown sugar and soy sauce.  Place the
  chuck steak in this marinade and refrigerate over night.  Place meat on
  broiler pan or rack, farthest from the flame.  Broil 12 minutes.  Place
  marinade on meat and broil another 2 minutes.  Serves 6.
