It'll always raise its dander, in a literal sense; but whether
it makes the cat mad depends on its mood. Sometimes a little
against the grain is a good thing, sort of like scratching
yourself - if you don't have an itch, it's unpleasant; if you
have one, quite the contrary.

I go back today. We'll see. He was always on the edge of
overweight and obese, and in this case it seems to have helped
him quite a lot. He's still square in the middle of overweight,
by normal standards, but that is a good thing, and we're trying
to keep him there. There's an evolutionary advantage to fatness
that has to do with fending off starvation, and I think that
has a lot to do with his having lived so long.

Indeed. And it's unpredictable, as he has good days and
bad days but no schedule for these.

Should be okay just so there's some Na around. And even
then, there are strains of yeast (Florentine, for example)
that do well even in the absence of Na.

Perhaps if you ate something high in fiber (I don't know,
maybe bran flakes or Kleenex or something) along with the
orange juice, that might be okay.

Cinnamon is supposed to help regulate blood sugar, but why
and how (well, to be honest, also whether) is under dispute.

      Title: Citrus Dumplings
 Categories: Citrus, Breads
   Servings:  2

    1/2 ts Finely Shredded Orange Peel       1/2 c  Orange Juice
      2 ts Cornstarch                        1/4 ts Ground Cinnamon
     11 oz Mandarin Orange Sect., Drain      1/2 c  Bisquick
      2 tb Sugar                               2 tb Milk
      1 ts Sugar                                    Dash Ground Cinnamon

  In a 1-quart casserole stir together orange juice, cornstarch and 1/4 t
  ground cinnamon. Micro-cook, uncovered, on 100% power for 1 1/2 to 2
  minutes or till thickened and bubbly, stirring every 30 seconds. Stir in
  drained mandarin orange sections and finely shredded orange peel.
  Micro-cook, uncovered, on 100% power for 1 to 1 1/2 minutes or till mixture
  is heated through. Meanwhile for dumplings, stir together Bisquick and 2 T
  sugar. Add milk, stirring just till moistened. Drop mixture into four
  mound atop the hot orange mixture. Micro-cook, uncovered, at 50% power for
  6 to 7 minutes or till dumplings are just set. Stir together the 1 t sugar
  and dash ofground cinnamon. Sprinkle sugar mixture atop dumplings.
