I went looking for wildcat recipes ... and as I had already posted the
Calabrian Wildcat recipe - this one was the next up.   Bv)=   Chilli cooks will
call their chilli all sorts of mis-leading names. Some even claim their
hamburger soup is chilli - even though there is little or no chile in it.  
Bv)=  And, no, I'm not going to post one of those.

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.04
  
       Title: Wild Cat Stew w/Herbs
  Categories: Game, Stews, Vegetables, Game
       Yield: 6 servings
  
      50 g  Butter
   1 1/2 kg Disjointed, skinned, wild
            - (feral) cat
     450 g  Leeks; thick sliced
       4 cl Garlic; chopped fine
     175 g  Pot barley
     900 ml Water
       3 tb Wine vinegar
       2    Bay leaves
            Salt & pepper
      15    Fresh sage leaves; rough
            - chopped

       1 tb Dried sage
   
  A recent Alice Springs contest featured wild cat stew. The
  meat is said to taste like a cross between rabbit and,
  perhaps inevitably, chicken.

  But wildlife campaigners have expressed their dismay that
  Australia's wild cat now finds itself on the nation's
  menus. 

  Melt the butter in a heavy pan and fry the meat with the
  leeks and garlic till the vegetables are slightly softened
  and the meat lightly browned. Add the barley, water,
  vinegar, bay leaves and seasoning. bring the pot to the
  boil, cover it and simmer gently for 1 - 1 1/2 hours or
  till the meat is really tender and ready to fall from the
  bone. Add the sage and continue to cook for several
  minutes. Adjust the seasoning to taste and serve in
  bowls-- the barley will serve as a vegetable.

  Serves six

  Marinated moggie was not to everyone's taste. One of the
  competition judges found the meat impossibly tough and had
  to politely excuse herself and spit it out in a backroom.

  Wild cats are considered good eating by some Aborigines,
  who roast the animals on an open fire.
