I can get pickled seed pods but if I want blossoms I shall have to
grow my own nasturtiums If I'm still keen in trying this next year, I
just might.

German scrapple:

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06
 
      Title: Goetta 1
 Categories: Pork, Beef, Breakfast, Groundmeat, Grains
      Yield: 8 Servings
 
      2 qt Cold water
      2 lb Ground beef
      1 lb Ground pork
      2 c  Pinhead or steel cut oats
      1 md Minced onion
  1 1/2 ts Salt
    1/2 ts Pepper
    1/2 ts Sage
      2    Bay leaves
 
  Use a heavy pan.  Break up meats with fork in water while beginning  to
  boil. Add all other ingredients cook stirring often at least 3 hours
  in large heavy pan or pot.  Goetta will be thick when done. Pour
  into loaf pans. Cool before refrigerating. After refrigerating to
  set, slice to fry for delicious breakfast or brunch  for those liking
  German like tastes and textures.

 Categories: German, Pork, Chilies, Breakfast, Grain
      Yield: 4 Servings
 
      2 lb Pork neck bones
    1/2 qt Boiling water
      6    Peppercorns
      1 sm Bay leaf
      1 c  Oatmeal
           Salt
      1    Onion; diced
           Cayenne
      1 ts Allspice
 
  Cook meat in water with peppercorns and bay leaf until meat falls
  away from bone. (I prefer to put the pot in refrigerator all night
  and skim off fat in the morning). Grind meat. Cook oatmeal in liquid
  with rest of ingredients and ground pork (You may have to add more
  water). Cook to consistency of mush. Pour into loaf pans which have
  been rinsed in cold water. When ready to serve, remove from pan,
  slice and fry in a little melted butter or drippings until brown.
  Good for breakfast served with toast. Since I make a large batch, I
  remove the goetta from the pans when they are firm enough to hold
  their shape, wrap in plastic and freeze.
  
  Joy of Cooking says that if you use corn meal you call it scrapple.
  If you use oats you call it goetta.
