Hope he's ok by now.  I'm way behind again, after an unexpected stint of
hospital duty again for most of the week.

We do make more than minimum regularly and, if the money is available,
make larger chunks...  As to how long the car would last... well, we
have a pretty good track record there, my last car (an '89 Dodge Shadow)
lasted for 18 years before we needed to replace it... We are hoping for
our two Volvos (his a '98 V70, and mine an '05 S60R, bought late '07) to
last us for the rest of our driving days...  ;)

Once upon a time, all consumer interest was tax-deductible if one
itemised one's deductions... that got phased out long ago, and the only
one left is this one on mortgage interest.  There is a limit to it,
though, as, if one's indebtedness is greater than the worth of the
property, the interest on the over amount is not deductible, unless it
is all for the property itself.
