We have a scale at home and donated one to the church kitchen. Otherwise
it's just eyeballing and that is a lot less than accurate. (G) But, my
primary care doctor reduced the Lantus from 18 units down to 10 last
week and thinks that I might be able to go off it at some point. I just
have to keep up with the carb watching tho.

Like Steve always makes sure the garlic is not in the liquid after the
kosher dill pickles are used up. He also gets the garlic from the dilled
green beans and the heart from a bunch of celery.

At home she still thinks she has to do what she did for so many years.
Dad has to really be aware to intercept her from trying to do what she
isn't supposed to and suggest she do something else (like setting the
table). Removal from the familiar home environment would be a big help
there; she wouldn't have the familiarity of her own kitchen (even tho
she's not allowed to cook) where she knows where things are.

I know, and he needs the help. If she falls, he can't get her up by
himself but in an assisted living, the help would be just steps away
instead of who knows how long.

None of us have the place to do anything like that. All of my siblings
have their own homes; we rent (for now, don't know what the future will
be). Some could be adapted but in the long run, it's probably better if
my folks were in assisted living, mostly for the skilled care for Mom
(and eventually Dad).
