I had to go look at the (changed) subject line as it seemed you were
referencing oranges. Of course, what you say is a truism in either instance.
You can blame the bean counters of the demise of both the parsley as a
decoration and the orange slice as a decoration/palate cleanser.

It's odd, I have never cared for orange juice. But I quite like oranges
straight up or as an ingredient. Never ate parsley straight up for its intended
purpose as a breath freshener. But, it also makes for a good ingredient.

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06

      Title: Parsley Salad
 Categories: Salads, Greens, Citrus
      Yield: 4 servings


      4 oz (about 2 qt) Italian parsley
      2 tb Fresh lemon juice
      2 tb Lemon zest
      6 tb Walnut oil
      2 ts Dark sesame oil
      1 ts Honey
           Salt & fresh ground pepper
    3 tablespoons toasted sesame seeds

  Recipe courtesy Alton Brown

  Wash and dry the parsley. Pick the leaves, and set aside.
  Discard the stems.

  In a large bowl, whisk together the lemon juice, zest,
  walnut oil, sesame oil, honey, and salt and pepper, to
  taste. Add the parsley and sesame seeds and toss to
  combine. Allow the salad to sit for at least 30 minutes
  before serving so that flavors meld.
