Was it edible?  I wouldn't know how to do that. Mine aren't sticky sweet, 
and I don't use much of a crust but even so.

My grandmother's was an unheated room built onto the kitchen.  It seemed
big 
as a kid, but I was five inches shorter the last time I saw it.  Her fridge 
was in it though.  There was another storage room in the basement that she 
never used except as a place to keep canning jars.  It was one of those
WWI-
era houses that had those rooms in the basement.  Fascinating to a kid.

It happens. Sometimes it skips generations, and sometimes survives.  I saw
a  
Roadshow episode recently where a guy brought in two 18 century miniatures 
of ancestors.  He was a dead ringer for the gentleman in the miniature.
