i've never done hard drugs, either... i just know folks who have been involved
with them in one manner or another... "crack cocaine" and "crystal
methamphetamine" are different but if they are smoked, they can cause the same
damage to the front teeth... both are "speed" or "upper"... 

cocaine is natural though processed to extract more of the active
ingrediants... the indians in south america chew the leaves to help them when
they are working at high altitudes on the mountains where the air is very
thin... in making cocaine, those leaves are processed to break out the "good
stuff" which goes thru more processing and refining... the results are a fine
white powder... on the streets, this powder, like so many others, is then cut
with other substances (baby powder, vitamin D, chalk, flour, etc)... the
further down the distribution chain it goes the more it is cut or stepped on...
everyone's gotta make their profit plus "watering it down a bit" to make that
little bit extra... crack cocaine is that street stuff with as much of the cut
removed to take it back to its higher potency... amazingly, this removing of
the cut is pretty simple... some water, baking soda and heat is all it takes...

crystal methamphetamine is all chemicals... it gets the "crystal" portion of
its name because it is cooked down and left to cool such that the chemicals
grow into crystals just like salt and sugar grow crystals... it also goes thru
the same type of stepping on to reduce its potency while increasing the
quantity... i don't know if it can have the cut removed from it or not... i've
never known anyone to attempt such... they just consume more of it instead...

bulking things up by adding "cut" is pretty common all over the world... look
at the liquid soaps that we wash with... those "concentrated" ones simply have
less water in them than the cheaper bottles... there was a time when what we
buy today as "concentrate" was the normal stuff without that word on the
label... then someone decided they could add more water and sell it for the
same price while taking the original formula and charging more for it...

then you have our food products... things like chicken, pork and beef that all
have water added to it sometimes with color enhancers... this, too, bulks the
product up making it weigh more than what you are really getting in the end...
since most all food is bought on price per quantity of weight, you end up
paying a lot for mere water in many cases... water which you throw away...
