Ärende: big old headache 46 [1]
====================================================================
Hi Michael,

RH> a garden variety headache but at some point turn nasty on me with some
RH> queasiness, no bright lights or aura.

ML> Funny, I'm pretty unvisual, but the visual effects are
ML> a prominent and annoying feature for me. Also tinnitus
ML> (ringing in the ears, which I have periodically anyway).

Steve has a problem with tinnitus but his is pretty much a constant
thing. It developed during his time in the Army, having to do his job
without being able to wear hearing protection, so some of his disability
is based on it.

ML> Hypersensitivity to touch. My migraine is an equal
ML> opportunity molestor - the only sense that hasn't been
ML> adversely affected so far is smell.

Sounds like you get it on all sides. I'd rather not be exposed to any
smells when suffering, they just make me feel worse. Sometimes the
venting system of whatever place we're living in carries the smells from
the kitchen to the bedroom--seems like they do, maybe they don't
really--making me burrow deeper into the pillow.

ML> I don't even want to think about
RH> going anywhere except to a dark, quiet room as even a lot of sounds
RH> will seem amplified and excruciatingly loud.

 ML> That, too.

 ML> But, as I said,
RH> medications, a damp washcloth for the forehead (thanks to my MIL for
RH> that idea) and sleep and I'm washed out, but over it in 6-8 hours.

ML> They prescribed indomethacin for me, which seems to
ML> have helped, though I have long since run out and have
ML> seen no urgent need to get more.

I'm using zomig, with a chaser of fiorocet after a few hours. After I
broke my elbow in HI, I was put on indomethacin for a month or so (new
idea to help the healing) but it had some nasty side effects. I was glad
to go off it.

ML> More likely someone with my address in their book got
 ML> infected?
RH> Quite possible; I vet some suspicious ones by Steve, others I know
RH> right off that they're spam & delete without opening. Not as many get
 RH> thru Lynux.

ML> Thinking back, there were a couple Spam e-mails supposedly
ML> from a real correspondent of mine; I actually opened one of
ML> them and was treated to some kind of junk or other, on which
ML> a speedy deletion was indicated. These came a bit before
ML> this rash of junk, and maybe there's a connection.

Not fun, we've not had any trouble with that while traveling. I didn't
do any e-mail while in Sierra Vista, on the motel wireless, but we're in
a secure area now.

ML> The settings are autotweaked by Juno, and one can't change
ML> them, just turn the filter on or off. The product as a whole
ML> is not a good one, but it works for me who do not have
ML> consistent access to the Web. Also everybody's got my e-mail
ML> address and it would be a pain to change.
RH> I understand--hopefully whatever has caused it has ceased. Steve is my
RH> go to for asking about things like that, and keeping my system working
RH> as bug free as possible.

ML> What I can do is set the purge of the Spam box for greater
ML> frequency - now it's set for 0, so I am no longer able to
ML> inspect (if I log in to the Website) the Spam to check for
ML> false positives. Juno is peculiar, as if you access it by
ML> Webmail, you get some control over your Spam filtration,
ML> but the offline-reader version offers no such - you have
ML> to go online and set your settings to receiving either all
ML> Spam or no Spam, then go back and reap the rewards of your
ML> wisdom or unwisdom. It's probably not much of a moneymaker,
ML> and I really doubt much attention is paid to updating the
ML> software, adding features, any of that.

It's pretty much stuff I leave to my resident guru/geek.

 ML> FRIED STUFFED HARD CRABS
 ML> 6 c pancake mix
 ML> 1 c bread crumbs
RH> I'd have to drop some of the carbs from this or make sure the rest of
RH> the meal was very low carb. I guess cole slaw and some other veggie
RH> would put it in my safe range. I could probably eat one without
RH> trouble but more than that might be a bit questionable on the carbs,
RH> especially with pancake mix, bread crumbs and milk. The rest of the
RH> ingredients are fairly safe tho.

ML> Well, I doubt there's much danger for you. This recipe
ML> is a counterexample to the notion that anything is better
ML> deep fried, but here I don't think you are expected to
ML> eat the hard shell and its coating. Perhaps the coating
ML> if peeled off might have some appeal, but certainly eating
ML> it would be optional. In your case, just stuffing the crab
ML> with a lower-carb stuffing and broiling it would make sense.

I think it would be just as tasty without the carby coating and broiled
or baked instead of deep frying. We do some frying but not a whole lot.

ML> Depending on your dietary requirements, you might
ML> substitute hollowed-out zucchini or something for
 ML> the noodles.

 ML> Title: Crawfish Stuffed Manicotti
 ML> Categories: Seafood, Pasta, pseudo-Italian
 ML> Servings: 6

I'd have to check the carb counts on the manicotti wrappers/shells and
some of the other things. But, I'd change out some of the sauce
ingredients; I don't put ketchup in my pasta sauce.

Catch you later,
