That is my main filter in T'bird. Be in my addresses or be consigned to the
it.

Yeah, there is that. But, it's not terribly onerous.

Either that or some Trojan highjacks your correspondent's email and address
book and uses it to send out things like "You have to check this out. I've made
a ton of money. BLTZPFKX/bit.ly.com." I got one of those once that was not
obviously from a person for whom English was a second (or third) language and
purported to be from a guy I had shared a house with for 10 years. When I
clicked the link my AVG virus program went berserk.

Does the CTRL-U work from within T'bird? I've not used that one. And it
wouldn't necessarily tip one off to a highjacked address email address book
using the (previously) trusted account. I use TinyURL to truncate long URL
links. There is another called "tiny.cc" which performs the same function. And,
of course, "bit.ly" which seems to be the truncator of choice for the
spam/malware/Trojan generators - and Twitter (in which I do not participate).
I've never seen a link from bit.ly that led anywhere I'd care to go. Or that my
security sox would allow me to visit.

It's not paranoia if they are really out to get you. And some of these muggs
are out to get anyone sucker enough to bite on their bait.

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06
 
      Title: Butterscotch Boy Bait
 Categories: Cookies, Snacks, Nuts, Fruits
      Yield: 16 Servings
 
    1/2 c  Butter
      2 c  Oats
      6 oz Pkg butterscotch morsels
     12 oz Can sweetened condensed milk
      3 md Baking apples
      1 c  Flaked or shredded coconut
      1 c  Walnuts; coarse chopped
 
  Peel, core and coarsely chop the apples. Melt butter in
  13" x 9" oven. Stir in oats. Mix well; spread evenly over
  bottom of pan. Bake at 350øF/175øC for 15 minutes.
  
  Meanwhile, melt butterscotch morsels with milk over double
  boiler or in microwave. Layer apples over oats; drizzle
  evenly with butterscotch mixture. Top with coconut and nuts,
  pressing down gently. Bake at 325øF/162øC for 25 to 35
  minutes, or until lightly browned.
  
  Cool thoroughly. Cut into bars.
  
  Serves 16.
