I've no idea where Mom got those glasses; I can remember them forever.
She still has, and uses them. I think they used plastic because of the
breakage factor. Their regular drinking glasses were aluminum, until
they put the glasses in the dishwasher. The chemical reactions ruined
those glasses so we replaced them with thermal plastic, dishwasher safe.

I suspect some people do spend small fortunes acquiring sets of them.

I like the V8 type better than straight tomato. I'd still rather have
orange juice but realise I had to adjust, and did so.

I need to slow down & read more carefully sometimes. I do, when I'm in
the voting booth, but enough others don't so we get politicians we don't
want from time to time.

They don't have heat (unless crossed with a hotter pepper); that's the
point of it. She doesn't like any heat.

I generally use serranos, poblanos (or anaheims) and whatever looks
good in the pepper department. Then I'll use fresh onion, no garlic and
usually canned (home or commercial) tomatoes and tomato puree for the
competition style. The family friendly chili gets bell pepper (whatever
colors I have on hand), beans and corn in it, mild spicing so as not to
scare off chili wimps. Steve stirred in a small bar of semi sweet
chocolate last year but it was almost a bit too much chocolaty tasting
IMO.
