======================
Hi Michael,

RH> A lot goes into making something appear
RH> to have a natural "flow" for the audience.

ML> Indeed - as with other art forms, what appears simple and
ML> natural is often so far from either.

Having worked in drama/music productions I absolutely agree with you.
Two years ago (our last Christmas in GA) I did the costuming for the
children's choir production. Part of it involved kids coming off stage
and hustled into a biblical costume over the other one, then sent back
on stage. Then at the very end, those in the biblical outfits had to
get off stage so they could pull off the robe (and accessory pieces) to
go back on for the curtain call in their original outfit. A couple of
other ladies helped there but I did 90% of the costume creation.

RH> As have other cities in their time. London and Paris were at one time
RH> much more influential than they are now; the latter especially with
 RH> women's clothing styles.

ML> What is the capital of women's clothing styles now? I'm way out
ML> of touch in such cultural areas.

Italy (Rome and Milan), Paris and London all have the major designer
fashion shows. To some extent also, NYC but not as much as Europe I'd
say.

RH> I'm debating putting in a request for some of my mom's Revere Ware
RH> (which was her mom's) at some point in the future. Depends on how

ML> Certainly you don't want it to go to the scrap heap. Even burnt-out

No, that is not the way I want to see it.  One sister owns Revere Ware;
she might want to add some pieces to her set. The other sister, last
time I knew, had a RW knock off set. Don't know if she would want some
of the real thing or not. One brother cooks, I don't know what he has
for cookware. I don't think the other brother cooks beyond running a
microwave nor is he interested in trying to learn at this stage of life.
So, there's a chance I might get some.

ML> old Revere Ware (such as mine, since I put it in the house) is worth
 ML> keeping.

Little brother abusing it? Get him some stuff he can beat up on. (G)

ML> 1/4 c Soy Vay Veri Veri Teriyaki
RH> The idea looks good but I'd make up my own teriyaki sace.

ML> In general a good idea, as it's so easy to make, and there's
ML> no point paying soy sauce prices for sugar water.

Agreed! We're reverting back to doing a lot more of that, as we did the
first time we lived in NC. I did keep some DIY up during the time Steve
was in the Army, mostly bread making, but a lot dropped along the way
over the years. Now we've got the tools to help us do the DIY things
better, like the wheat grinder. I don't have to buy flour any more.
Between the pastry and bread flours, we were down to under a cup of
wheat flour today until Steve ground more.

ML> Onion, Leek and Potato Strudel
 ML> cat: starter
 ML> servings: 8

ML> 1 lb potatoes, preferably russet,
 ML> - peeled and quartered
 ML> 2 Tb unsalted butter
 ML> 2 c (about 2 medium) chopped onions
ML> 2 leeks (white part only), halved
ML> - lengthwise, cleaned, sliced thin
 ML> 2 lg egg yolks
 ML> 1/4 ts salt
ML> 1/4 ts freshly ground black pepper
 ML> To assemble
ML> 4 phyllo pastry sheets, thawed if frozen
ML> 2 Tb unsalted butter, melted

Looks good. I saw some leeks into Lowe's the other day, didn't buy any
because I'd no plans for them. I might look up a potato & leek soup
recipe now that it's turned cold.

Catch you later,
Ruth
